Browsing the database
Some suggestions:
Make the database browsable more conveniently:
What if I only want to browse the musicians/graphicians/coders?
Or I only want to see the released graphics instead of all releases (or just the 4k intros), for example.
Being only able to browse groups/sceneres/releases/events is a little bit limited. |

A more advanced browse function is on it's way.
Due to lack of time to develop CSDb I can't say anything about when it'll be ready. That goes for all upcoming improvements. :/
For most of theese browse functions you are missing I can refer to the advanced search. Check it out.

I already did, quite hard to get used to that.
But don't worry, you already did a hell of a job. I don't care _when_ something gets added, as long as you pick up suggestions and there's frutile conversation going on between the users and the programmers. Keep up the great work! |

Thanx. :)
About the advanced search.
What do you guys think about it?
When it was thought of originally it was the idea that you should be able to search on almost anything.
Then I came up with the design you see now, but I was wery unsure how 'userfriendly' it was.
Actually I expected a lot of "how does advanced search work?" questions, but didn't really got any yet.
New topic? |

I don't use it that much as it's quite non-transparent. |

As I already pointed out the advanced search is not very userfriendly. If you forget to set the switch for scener/release/group/event (at the top of the page) you get no entries, the you have to go back but all the search criteria have to be entered again. Split it up in a way that point (1) works as a link to the various searches. This avoids confusion, and would improve the advanced search massively (IMHO). |

Steppe:
You can avoid typing in alle the information again by clicking on the link 'refine search' instead of using the back from the result page.
The reason all 4 criteria is present on the same screen is so that it is possible to make relative searches.
Like 'find groups with members that have made releases released at ...' etc.
I guess (hope) you've seen the checkboxes:
"Must have members matching the scener criteria."
"Must be member of a group matching the group criteria."
"Must have credited a scener matching the scener criteria."
Theese are just a few of them.
I think that advanced search is quite powerfull, but I'm ofcourse ready for sugestions.
If you have any reply's concerning the advanced search please go to the newly created topic in CSDb questions. |

I didn't see the checkboxes, but then I used it only once and didn't look too exactly. But it makes sense, you're right. Thanks for the hint! |
