Tagging of demos with effect types. ie (zoom and rotate [1/2/4 pixel], fli[quality], tech-tech[pixel width],etc)

Then the ability to search by effect.

The reason I'd like to see this is that I would like to produce a new demo and would like to see what has already been done (and to what level), so I don't end up copy something thats already out there.

you'd almost certainly end up with something thats already out there, no matter what :=)

and you don't want to wait with your demo until all demos are tagged eh?

well, good luck with that o.O

I agree with the tagging thing, though. but a bit different. how about the ability to label demos with 'design', 'coderpr0n', etc... so that way, if you want to see some coderpr0n, it will be easier to find..

dunno, random idea.

Obviously a lot of work, particularly tagging the thousands of existing demos, but it has the advantage of creating a time line of when effects were first created (something I've seen discussed on here somewhere)

Also you create a master list of effects, which could be done with out tagging them all. This list on its own would be enough but wouldn't be as complete.

Well no, otherwise I'd never start anything...

date of release / thumbnail of screenshot, releaser group etc into search results of releases. btw advanced search shows less info than "simple search" which does already have group& type...

How about a way of seeing the changes to the rankings for demos, groups etc.

For instance, I've checked out a lot of the higher up demos, but if a demo moves up the rankings I'd like to know which is new without having to remember what was there previously.

Up/down arrows would be nice but as records could go in and out of say the top ten, it wouldn't quite give what I'm thinking of.

Maybe combined with an indicator of if it is the highest ever ranking the record has achieved?

If the source + ERD for the site was made available through a repository (subversion please), those of us so inclined could add features.

Have a dev/test area for these features with the site owners deciding whether or not to roll them out.

What language and what database is used?
