Crediting text in magazine, demo etc...
I find credits like "Vandalism News #40, Music, Text" not very satisfacting. It would be cool if there was possibility to add at least the name/short description of what the person has made, maybe even short synopsis.
This is quite "wannabe imrpovement" I must admit, but I think it would be great to have possibility to have better idea about what kind of "text" the person has been credited for in the magazine/demo/etc..
Examples..
Whatevermagazine#01, Text (more info: Chapter about kinky Whatevermagazine#03) Magazine, Text (more info: Tutorial about coding fractals, Interview with Richard Bayliss ;-)
Demoname, Text (more info: Scrolletext in part 1, 3 and 7)
Demoname, Text (more info: lyrics in loading screens)
etc.
whaddaya think?

i find the whole text-credit thing rather pointless, or at least let that narrow down to mags only .. like, there's so much people who don't get credits for scrollers, though it counts as text as well. |

There're also many people that doesn't get credited for music or graphics, so should those credit-types be removed aswell? :)
No, seriously, why have less info than we have now? I think it sometimes is interesting to see which demos a dude has written text in. And in mags it's certainly interesting, as text is what mags are all about (code is not the most important thing).
(the fact that text/music/graphics-credits are often not added is another issue - don't think we should cripple CSDb because of that)
If anything, CSDb should have more info imo (like CreaMD's idea). |

Blah. If you want to know who does what in a production, get the production and watch in on a c64. We don't need everything on CSDB. That is, if you're not looking for an excuse to boot your c64? :/ |

But if you wanted to know which productions someone did something in, you would have to download all demos. One of the main ideas with CSDb is to have info like that.
I don't think browsing CSDb compares to turning on your C64!! (but then again, i don't usually watch demos to see who made what :)) |

I'm just saying time and energy is better spent doing c64 productions than bothering about who got which credit on some meta-forum. Let's get our priorities sorted. |

I just thought it could be good to search such data. E.g. somenoe search for articles about some particular topic through various magazines. Most of us haven't read all magazines and I'm sure there are some good articles which are worth search for and read, but having credits like: Magazinenmae, Text doesn't help anything. It's just very short and practically useless information.

Perhaps a list of text credits for diskmags is something the Ultimate C64 Mags archive would be better suited to?
For example, in the 8 issues of Scene World written so far there have been about 50-60 contributors (if you don't include reaction texts). Now multiply that out for all the diskmags in the scene, and you have a lot of credits...
Oh, and I forgot to mention the scrolling messages in the intro to each issue, so there's more text to credit! :) |

As far as Vandalism & Domination is concerned. The text by other people, e.g. Opinion Poll, is generally a chapter organised by one person with the input of multiple persons.
"Official" credits in these publications are reserved for those who contributed in an official way.
Let us not stray from those official credits which is what the CSDB is meant to reflect.
It is also good to keep the credits of everyone as when browsing individual scener profiles you can get a good idea on what they did in the scene. *Important*
