Too much self-googling will implode the internet. It's true! |

Well this is the first time I googled for "jailbird"... And I also tried with other c64 sceners and I'm the only one who gets this crazy description for his CSDb user page. It makes me very sad. :'( |

Seems to me like some kind of anti-automaton measures on Perff's behalf, that got slightly out of hand... :-) |

Yep. At some point I implemented a anti-flood system which will return a blank page with the current text, if you generate to many hits. I set the number high enough so that crawlers wouldn't get caught, but I guess it can happen.
Hope google will come back and re-index this page soon. :)
Hm. If you click the "Cached"-link on google, you get the real page, so it's got the page alright - just forgot to fix the title.. weird. :) |

Yeah, well at least you aren't a "ruggie". I Googled my old handle and here is what I came up with:
http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/basic-scuba-discussions/182434..
Quote:I guess one's doesn't necessarily have to be a noob to be a hoover, but it often goes hand in hand.
BTW, "NOOB" definitely predates the internet age, except of course we were so un-kewl and spelled it out fully "newbie". The other term on the BBS systems circa 1984-88 was "ruggie", as in "rugrat". Anybody with a handle such as "Ninjasbane" (I don't know how that came back to me so fast) was generally perceived as a "ruggie". Or anyone who typed in ALL CAPS.

I contacted the guy and he had no idea who I was. And he is wrong about "Newbie" predating the Internet age in its current context. |

A very spooky flash gallery of a Russian city, Novosibirsk... Worth seeing. The Audio is strange too and captures the atmosphere. I reckon Ed & Joe would love this! :D

It may be unethical, but you might find, as I did, that you made a difference to someone in the scene, and don't even remember why. Weird, and wonderful, at the same time. |
