I received my UK1541 yesterday, and after buying a compatible SDHC card today I managed to get it working. It has a small LCD screen and a remote, making it pretty easy to browse and swap d64s. So far I've only tested the Final Replay fastloader and my ULoadM4 irq loader, but as expected it runs without issue. If anyone wants to suggest a few demos to test, post here.
I have posted a few screenshots of the device in action on the AmiBay forum: http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?70120-UK1541-user-feedback
If you want to buy one yourself you can order it for 65 (including shipping) here: http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?69840-UK1541-for-sale-thre.. |

That is indeed value for money. Equates to less than £50 in gbp. Although again dependant on needs. Does it have any additional capabilities apart from the drive? |

it is only drive, and only d64s so far (although that might change) |

I got mine today and it fails miserably with ide64 disk turbo. |

I've tested with AR6, FC3, and ULoad M4 so far. All work but the Ultima IV loader hung after playing for a while.
And since it connects to the user port it's only a drive, no cartridge expansion. |

The IDE64 loader/saver only accelerates the serial data transfer, it doesn't do any tricks with disk reading and other stuff. As the manual claims that illegal opcodes are implemented (all?) I guess it must be not realtime enough.
Does it work with a JiffyDOS ROM? And without corruption with both a PAL and NTSC machine with a JD ROM? |

Theres currently no way to change drive rom so no way to test jiffydos. |

Anyone care to test what happens if you load the ESI version of Skate or Die on it? Note that if you're using D64 files, the disk ID needs to be EA or it'll fail.
I was informed that because D64 doesn't store track headers, the track ID which is EA have to be "emulated" by using the value in the header ID. This is also why so many of the D64s of Skate or Die fails, because the various versions doesn't have EA as disk ID, but if a G64 was made from the same floppy, it'd work. |

Interesting, do you have a known good d64 that should work if emulation is correct? |

I think any D64 you download from here should be good enough if you edit the disk ID. Though, I think someone provided an altered image from The Last Science download on csdb. |

If you want .d64 to be tested, please provide link to it... |

Skate or Die
Download the one which has corrected label. The other one won't work because of the missing track data/id, and emulators have been working around this by using the ID in the header as a workaround. |
