Have you seen my customized c128t computer? Yes, I said, 'C128T', where the 'T' stands for a 'Tower' configuration. :) Check out:

I think there's a picture of my purple C-64 somewhere on the net, and several ones of Mrs.Carrot's blue, furry one. |

I once sprayed a c64 red. The spraycan run out of paint before I had covered the whole thing and I left it like that. The c64 had "checkerboard" keyboard too (black/white keys). Its a pitty it faced the death of coke... |

i really have to change the look of my c64 too.. too bad i have put the focus-sticker on it allready i got at x2001. Hopefully i can remove and replace it without any damage to it (my only sticker on the c64, but focus rules:) ).
An online gallery with "modded" c64 would be cool, don't you think so? |

well, the results are up since this morning (0:23 or so).
Take a look at www.church64.de/christmascompo or look into the textfile of the complete release pack:
http://www.church64.de/christmascompo/releases/oy2k2cdc-final.z..
includes a bonus demo that get lost on the data-highway. |

my opinion of modding is that it does´nt make the machine better!the important thing of the c64 is the hardware and not the "look" |

but it makes your machine something special among the special machines called c64.
And beauty is in the eye that sees 8)
Why shouldn't be the beauty only be on the screen? Why should not everybody see that you love your machine?
If people send me pics of their "modded" c64, i'll put a galery up on the church-page.

It doesnt make the computer better, thats clear. But it looks better... imagine you use the C64 every day with the same outfit. Isn´t it boring? |

I think it's odd, that, given the amount of internal modding a lot of people do, exterior modding is hardly known with the c64..
The first mod looks awesome.. |

I never painted a case. I'm completely inept with pain and it'd probably look heinous if I did... but my old 64C had flames on it, in the form of those sparkly stickers you sometimes find in packs of other, altogether useless, stickers. I cut them to smaller sizes (so as to not cover the keys and whatnot) and put them along the front and sides of it. I wish I had pictures, but I haven't seen that machine since 1994 and at the time I didn't think I was doing anything really unique to it.

Hein Holt had a pretty cool one, replacing some of the keys with different-coloured ones, so it spelled HD (=Hein Design). Maybe he'll bring it with him to the Primary Star meeting this weekend .. |

Why oh why there aren't any transparent c64 breadbox cases? would look awesome with some blue (or red) cold cathode fluorescent tube inside it... :P

It would look cool, but it would also look expensive, because it would be, because you'd have to have the case custom made.
Incidentally... I just bought a can of chrome spray paint (if you know what I'm talking about) for fixing some of the bits on my car... but the can is still mostly full, and I _do_ have this 64C sitting around that isn't currently in use...
Stay tuned. I've got a bit of time to kill this weekend.

I've spraypainted my breadbox in black, and added a "commodore" mark in red using the old font (the one you find in PETs, my fave).
It's getting modded further with the addition of knobs atop (connected to pots wired straight to the POTX/POTY lines) for future musical applications. It will also get its kernal replaced with some music tool I will, hopefully, build in the future (there come the pots into play :D)

Here is a transparent upper half of a c64c..
A bit shoddy workmanship, but what can be expected from a homemade case..
i just wish there was a factory which could do a bulk of good quality 1:1 detail cases (both halves!) *sigh* |

I once sprayed one of my breadbox 64`s True Blue. The paint i used was car paint, it never flaked or chipped it lasted until the machine died. |

Yeah, last summer I used a spray made for a car and chrome-plated my original 64C. I thought I was being pretty shoddy, because I only did a half-assed job of cleaning the case and whatnot before putting it in the driveway and shooting it (and the actual painting also only took maybe half an hour), but it actually turned out pretty nice.
One quick and dirty picture of it at:
