date on crack releases

I find myself often wanting to see what date the original game came out... could we add this on the crack entries? So the release date of the crack and also releasedate of the original in a way... I think that would be great!

I second this wish =) Adding a field for game release date on crack entries would be a step towards detailing many of the cracks that still lack release date on CSDB.

Doing a cross-join with Gamebase or similar would be nice but more complicated I guess. From Gamebase, release *year* could be extracted - at best. Then again, Gamebase may contain several versions of a game and manual matching would have to be performed.

=)

That's the root of the problem. And we're suggesting that by adding info on when the game was released, the release date of the crack can perhaps be deduced from that... not the exact day of course, but at least what year it was...

You can only say that crack release date can't be less than the original game release date, a crack could have been released anywhere from that date, it's not of any help saying "somewhere after date xxyyzz". Also consider that many cracks were released before the game date due to leaked/stolen copies.
It's not helping deducting the real crack date at all.

I think CSDb will be better when the size of database goes down ... not up.

Delete release comments, cut down the amount of "credits", etc.

Let's not get carried away with feature creep and bloated with useless information.

what moloch said. ppl even have a hard time to fill in the existing fields properly. that even includes some crackers and the releasedates of their cracks.

no, we think adding even more crap on the pile is not the solution. especially if the initiating idea isnt "i want to add a whole lot of info to the database but cant, because..." but "i want to see this and that in the database and noone entered it for me".

in my opinion it would be enough to add the crack date, the release date ofcourse is often written in it's release itself;
like intro-scroller etc.

everyone usually is free to add such information as crack-date or hour or mental state into trivia, no?

guess it is pretty much impossible to add the date of the official release date of a game, guess none put it to the books and you will have several dates for different countries etc.
