geoDOS + 1581

I would like try GEOS tool geoDOS (filemanager for DOS diskette in 1581), but my external USB PC floppy can't work with DD format... (it isn't problem of WIN Explorer)

In HxC floppy emulator software (I haven't this hardware) I can generate a diskette image, but standart size of DOS diskette is 720kB. Size of 1581 diskette is 800kB.

Can I open the 720kB image in a HEX editor, add a few zerobytes to start/end and save as D81 image? If I write this image via IDE64 plugin on 1581, get I an usable DOS diskette, or is it nonsense?

In the HxC I can generate a DOS diskette 800kB, which has the right size, but in geoDOS it doesn't work.

You can, but it'll not work. The capacity difference is due to 9 vs. 10 sectors per track.

In theory this should work. I'm interested in practical results as I made the plugin long after my 1581 died.

I was going to suggest using omniflop on the to back up the data to a .d81 disk image but as you stated your external won't read DD format...hmm.
