Dont wonder if you meet guys in the #C-64 ircnet using a real C64!!! Trident makes it possible with Contiki !

and how about HDD/ extra ram ? Can contiki make a use of them ? |

You probably used a terminal program on the C64 to connect to a server somewhere on the Internet and had the IRC client running on the server with the C64 acting only as an I/O device for the server. At least this is what most people did back then. Contiki is the real thing: no servers or PC gateways, just raw IP access to the C64. The IRC client is actually running on the C64. Much cooler :-)
I use my TFE to connect directly to the 10 MBps Ethernet broadband connection in my apartment.

I don't have any harddisks myself, but I've heard reports of Contiki working with the 64hdd and the IDE64. Extra RAM is currently not used though. |
