reconstruction of the C64 in the future?

Well, I know this' gonna be another 'I have an idea, but wont do nothing about it'-dream.
There are already enough people faster with their fingers than their brains I admit, but this is off my limits anyway and I was just curious and frightened.
Maybe someone is skilled enough to give an answer or idea...
Ok, here it comes:
Is it possible to reconstruct the C64 with a reasonable (in my case: low) amount of money?
Most parts as in VIC etc. are rare to get an dying...
I'd estimate that about 10 of the apparently 20 millions sold c64 got dumped. Thats 10mill left for us. Thats ok I think. For now.
There is that topic of corroding material etc..
I seemed to be lucky not to witness such a death though I ..hum... I dont put my c64s on a board or something...
I help myself by buying more and more c64 over the years every time I am depressed and feeling afraid of the future :)
I think mine will survive me but what about my kids (not that have some yet (I think))?
ok, to the point. I've been messing arround with several PICs etc and was wondering if the whole schematics of a c64 can be redone using more or less modern devices? I DONT mean something like the nice but in my eyes doubtable C-1.
Just a plain REbuild. Well, maybe no antennaoutput but still 100% compatible.
Do you think thats gonna happen one day before it all ends?
Maybe they'all do fine another 20 years but what then?
I almost cried when I saw that analog photography seems to die out as well - bastards!! Well, thats another topic.
Having VICE run on a handy is an option but even worse than digital cameras for real photography.
Please help me to be able to sleep well again...
Code well,

Well, even _if_ the price was ok and the SID sounds 100% like the original and the VIC looks 100%. How much to pay for it? and would there ever get enough buyers? Wouldn't the main load of people rather invest the money in a neat running original C64?

Well, maybe the way the SID for C1 was made can also be used to make a 3 voiced version? Who knows?!..... I am not an expert.

Just do as I do for the past 7 years.

I buy every C= equipment I lay my eyes on, mostly at
flea-markets.
In the past 2 years I only saw one C= item in the market (a psu) which means the 'supply' probably ran out.
But I collected enough for me, my kids & their kids.. enough
spare parts for a very long time.

I suggest you do the same (and sleep better at night ;)

Btw, there are still plenty of 64s on Ebay

Hi again :)
May be I wasnt clear about this (and seemed rather paranoid):
I have several machines and the problem is not running out of them (I didnt break a single one yet) and I will never value a artificial c64 over an original one (just as I admire emulators for what they do but dont use them anyway), BUT one day the era of c64 will be gone. They will simply become dust.
All of them. Building stopped somewhere arround 1992 as far as I know. So I think its safe to say that there wont be > 1000 working devices in the year... say 2050.
Dont you all see it? (sorry for making panic :-).
I think I can afford to buy 1 c64 every month for the next 5 years on Ebay (though I wont), but that wont solve anything. And storing them in some vacuum-safe is simply not they we they should be handled and no solution after all.
And just to make a point: optimistic estimations say that we wont have enough Uranium for nuclearplants in about 80 years. There is no SOLUTION we have to find new ways. WEll, about the C64 - I like ITS way and just was wondering how to preserve it. I really thing this is a valid concern and not AS obscure and distant like the need for humanity to leave our solar system one day...(which bothers or at least interests me as well).
Ok, I'm writing this on beer but nontheless...
Wake up people (no offense)
