False positives with Firefox 60.0.2 (Linux)
Has somebody experienced false positives when downloading c64 stuff from csdb with firefox?
My download list shows a red one-way sign along with the prg and d64 files i wanted to download.
I got this first time about 1 or two month ago, i think.
Any idea what could be the origin? |

The origin is that csdb.dk has been added to Firefox' and Chrome's shitlist by some stupid reason. No matter what you download you will be warned. It's all nonsense, so keep on downloading, and don't be afraid. |

I'm not afraid, i'm just searching for a solution. At the moment all the downloaded files get deleted programmatically by firefox. |

On both Linux and Windows, clicking the downloads icon in Firefox, clicking on the file and selecting "open" will cause it to be "accepted" (ie the file is no longer 0 bytes).
On my boxes I don't have prg or d64 associated with anything, so when OS/Firefox ask for a tool to use to open the file with, I just cancel the dialog.
But it sure is annoying. Of course you can go to Preferences -> Privacy and Security and switch off "Block dangerous downloads". That should allow the downloads to be accepted. |

I tried workaround with wget. However i always stumble over the download.php link which isn't resolved by wget.
I tried
wget --trust-server-names -np -r -A prg URL
as well as
wget --trust-server-names -np -r -A php URL |

In chrome and chromium based browsers you can try disabling
phishing and malware "protection"
in firefox, privacy settings, "Block dangerous and deceptive content", decheck everything |

I solved this issue for now by using qupzilla, instead. However, would be nice to find a more general solution for firefox without having to manually acknowledge each false-positive. |

With Chrome, you can open the Downloads tab (CTRL-J), and THERE you can actually select to keep your dangerous warez (instead to only having an option to delete them)
And no need to switch back and forth, just click on all the files you want to download, go to Downloads, and select to keep them one by one.
And yes, this is stupid. If anything, it reduces my trust in any "checks" this dangerous file detection might or might not do. |
