Rex Dos OC118...
I have an Ocean OC118 (aka Excelerator+) with a "Rex Dos" rom inside...
Even if it works on a stock machine, i would like to understand if there is a special c64-side rom, with which the drive can be used... (Like Jiffy dos or something).
Does anyone know anything about it? |

”According to this site the Rex Dos rom seems to be part of a parallel speeder kit similar to Speed Dos, so you would need a parallel cable and a matching kernal rom to make it load stuff significantly faster.” From a Lemon thread.

Ok, thanks...
I see 3 models of cables:
- DOS-Kabel (Rex 9795)
- DOS-Kabel (Version 2)
- Floppy 1541 Parallel-Kabel (Rex 9535)
which all seems to be SpeedDos/RexDos compatible.
But... the C64 Eprom to use?
Could be the Exos V3?
I have this one in my EasyFlash and seems to speed up normal 1541 drive without any Parallel Cable/RexDos chip inside...
Could be faster with parallel-cabled OC118?
I need to look inside the drive... but i think the OC118 have the 6522 soldered directly to motherboard... and i have no intention of unsoldering it (Warranty may be lost =P ). |
