Chrome and Firefox (perhaps more) flagging *.prg's from CSDB as dangerous

Hi,

Downloading entries from here is now flagged " ... is dangerous" for some reason...
You don't even get the "keep" option, just the discard alternative...

Meh... had to go to IE for it to work..

Just sayin'..

I tried from FF updated to latest, no question asked when downloading a prg from here. Only in Vivaldi for me.

Quote: There's nothing to configure, too bad. It's embedded in the code and not configurable. Else there would be a easy solution. Up to some month ago the only workaround was to manually edit the download_file_types.pb with an hexeditor or the script I did to flag the blacklisted extensions as secure.
Another option is of course rebuilding yourself the browser after editing the source that builds download_file_types.pb =)

Did not try, but shouldn't Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Safe Browsing allow you to switch off protection?

it was already suggested on the Vivaldi forum and mine it's already set off, so it's not changing anything.

Ok, then I take it back and agree that this is a stupid development in browser security... :-/

In Firefox: Open Settings, click "Privacy & security", scroll down to "Deceptive Content and Dangerous Software Protection", uncheck "Block dangerous downloads". (Or just search for "dangerous" in the Settings search box).

Should fix the problem.

Edit: Incidentally, there are block lists issued by Google which I'm sure Vivaldi and perhaps Firefox (with default settings) honour as well. That was what led to the pouet.net outage a few weeks back.

My humble suggestion to all C64 hackers interested in a modicum of privacy and online freedom would be to choose any browser other than a Chromium-based one, and ideally stop using Google services altogether.

I'm sure someone with an account there is already doing that.

Funny meme

:D

Was that before or after writing a python script trying to patch away the stupidity they inflict on their users?
