howto find out version of old vice snapshot?
I have an old vice snapshot with an ecm plasma which i would maybe enter to the current ecm compo. however, i cannot read the vice snapshot because i cannot figure out the vice version which i used to create the snapshot some years ago.
any ideas? |

There is no way... newer snapshots have the VICE version in it, but that was only added after 3.something.
Your best bet is to try some older VICE releases. And don't use those snapshots for long term storage :) |

The only thing i know is that the original version must be older than 2.4 (This is what the error message of the current vice says).
yeh, don't use vsf for long term storage. if i'd knew back then... |

You could of course just load the snapshot into a hex editor. search for the C64 RAM block and rip that out |
