Nomad Projects

I've asked in comp.sys.cbm, I've asked in lemon64. Now I'll ask one last time, here:

Anyone had contact to hexl0rd/Nomad Projects, or to Nomad Projects in general? Their disappearance after asking for Godz betatesters (Dec.2000) remains kind of a mystery.

(Godz = unofficial C64 conversion of Gods by Bitmap Brothers)

Btw. I'm fully ready to accept that the whole Godz project might have been a scam; I'd just be glad to be proved otherwise.

Hmm, maybe a bit of a longshot here, but I remember both Gods & Nomad being French amiga demo groups. Coincedence?

Probably .. :)

Yeah, I was keeping my eyes open for that project too! I loved the game on the Amiga (one of the few that really got my hooked up), and I was amazed that the wanted to port it to the C64.
I doubt this was scam, they already had the title tune converted to SID, it wasn't that bad at all. I still have it lying around here as PSID file, if anyone of you would like to have a listen, contact me -> schmido@gmx.net

Ah yes, perhaps I was a bit too harsh with my choice of words. The other possibility I first thought of, which is not too pleasant either, is some kind of personal tragedy that struct the author(s).

Surely there can be other explanations too, but it just feels like, abandoning a near-complete, awesome C64 game and cutting off all communication couldn't be just because of some 'light' reasons, like ISP going belly-up or something.

Btw. just theoretically speaking, the title-theme & title-screen are the easiest to do...

That has happened before .. I myself once 'created' a false release of the game Platoon (way back) with just a title screen made by a friend of mine, and some generic war-like music. Also I remember Streethawk being nothing more than a title picture + music ..

Did you say Streethawk? The one that features the lost Galway tune? You don't happen to have this lying around somewhere, do you? ;-)

The Streethawk fake used one of the Ocean loader tunes.

This might be a longshot (or even a shot in the dark), but anyway there is a french pc demo group (don't think they were ever active on amiga as a group, TDJ, though some single members like Nytrik was) called nOmad. I see no member called Hexlord on their memberlist, but it might be worth a try asking them if they know anything, at least... Talk to Z, he's a friendly guy :)

Hmm... I remember a Hexl0rd (with same email as on N.Prods pages) was involved in writing some MAME / other emu-related database utility, or something, but this was not updated after some point in 2000. Damn, now I even forgot the name of that utility :)

If you press [C=] in the title screen ,there is more...
