Quote: Can I extract an instrument from a SID to be able to use it in my own SIDs? If I can, may you say me how?
Thanks.
The SID-format is not a fileformat where the data is stored in any specific 'standart' way. Data is not stored in the same way in all SID-files.
Why?
B'coz a SID-file is just a *normal C64 music-file* with a little header.
As you probably know, a "normal C64 musicfile" is just a little program that can play music. That little program can look just like the coder wants it to look, so it's hard (maybe impossible?) to find a way to ripp instruments, that would work on all SID-files (but it would be easy to make one that just worked on a few SID-files with the same C64-code, but i guess that would be useless...)
...hmm, it would be possible to make a ripper that could recognize some different players (<- those programs to play music), and then rip the sounds. Has that been done? |
