I am a new owner of the ide64 controller and I would like to know more about people who use the ide64,too, because I want to change knowledge about it.

I am a happy owner of this fine piece of hardware, too.
And by now quite 'experienced'.
Any special questions? |

YES! i have a few questions: Is there a player, yet for avi. and dat. format?
Can you fix games and programms without assembler?
I have connect my harddisk and my cd rom with master andslave on the ide port. The other port´s size is the same like an pc-3,5 floppy cable...can I connect a PC3,5 floppy or do I need the catweazle controler or something else if it works???
regards

ad 1) No, there isn't.
ad 2) No, you can't.
ad 3) You should read the documents that can be found on
the IDE64 website. The other port is the so-called
SHORT BUS. You can plug IDE64-peripherals to it (i.e.
the DUART card, as far as I know the only device for the
short bus at the moment)
ad 4) I think the catweazle controller is for PC or Amiga,
not for c64. |

You can fix games with the built in monitor if you're a talented cracker ;)
Please never connect a floppy drive to the short bus, that will most likely fry your C64 and/or IDE64 cartridge!
If you're not using the ancient 0.897 then the documentation is at http://singularcrew.hu/idedos/ . (search for the IDE64 User's guide pdf file there)
0.90 will be out in February or so, an old beta is also up there (20050917). You'll have a problem later if you upgrade from 0.89x as the filesystem changed, and you'll have to copy all your stuff, which means another HDD is required. (also future versions of IDEDOS will come out without the capability to read the old filesystem which 0.89x uses...)

there is also ethernet controller and some small things like LED driver for shortbus , read about them at ide 64 homepage :) |

Hej, pixel23!
I'm playing around with this piece of fine hardware since 2001. I own the V2.1 (Rev 1) and it's part of my C64II since then. I added a laptop-hdd (2,5") inside the C64 and let the ide-cable look out of the expansionport. If I wanna use the hd, i simply plug the IDE64 in and connect the cable, that hangs out of the C64II.
Since it is possible to listen to the HVSC-SIDs with a plugin, I love to use IDE64. I also like 'Weekend'-Demo very much!
Sadly, it won't run properly on C128(dcr) but works perfectly with SCPU(V2) :-D
Maybe DVD-playback is also possible (with ASCII-art)? ;-) That'll be fun.
