A question for the crackers
In C64 scene history, if your were in a cracking group, etc. Which tape loader protection did you find the most difficult to crack and how did you or your group members manage to resolve the problem and successfully crack the game?

Alot of people couldnt really crack tapes. Many of them lived on the tapes transferred to disks which others did for them.
But in the case you got the original tape and the loader were very difficult. People could do 4 things and people often choose them after their skills.
1) If it was a single load game then they just freeze it and no need to fight with the tape loaders
2) Again if it was a single load then they just could reset crack the game. An easy job, but it has nothing do with real cracking at all.
3) Skip it and look at another game
4) Study the loader and simply understand the loader step by step. It might take some time, but if you are a real tape cracker then you would have progress slowly. Often the real tape crackers doesnt care that it took some time as they think it was great with some hard tapeloaders.
About the most difficult loader I would more say the most annoying loader. I know alot of people had their problems with Cyberload, but with some work its quite easy. The most annoying are still Snakeload if you ask me, not that its hard to get the files from tape to disk. The loader were used on the Storm/Sales Curve games and often you had to kill alot of things just to get the levelpacker to run.

Tried to find the start address of the game in the loader, set some registers so it wont crash after loading, put in a brk, often worked.
