how do i get started?
Hi there, i'm new here and a total newbie I suppose when it comes to the c64, I bought a c64 last week from an old guy in sweden and now I wonder how to get started if I want to use my c64 to make music.
What music-program should I use and how do I transfer it to my C64? I've heard about a special cable that can connect my PC to the c64 disk-drive, and about transferring files to the tape drive from the PC with a special program, but which method is the best? I'm sorry but I dont know much about these things, so if someone could help me I would be very thankfull. I hope there are some nice persons out there. |

for transferring you'll need X1541/XE1541. instructions are here: http://sta.c64.org/xcables.html
as for the music program, i'd recommend either john player (easy to learn) or jch's editor (powerful, but difficult for a beginner). |

Other recommended accessories:
* an action replay/retro replay cartridge
If you own a 1581 disk drive, you can
use 1581copy on the pc to read and write 1581 disks:

http//d81.de/ might be easier to remember and I love it. Also works with FD2000 hd formatted disks (~1600KB). |
