C64 disks in Airport X-Ray
All,
Travelling to Vision soon by airplane I'd like to ask if somebody has put C64 disks thru the Airport X-Ray system and if they survived it ?
Thx,
FRaNKy.

Just put them in your handluggage and ask the custom officers not to put them through the X-Ray tube? |

Tried it with other computer equipment and even photographic film.. takes a lot of time and effort and then 'in this post 9/11 days' I've only managed 50% of all tries.

I once read about a test that was done using 3,5 inch disks. They reported no problems. They went trough xray machine several times without any errors.
So we can assume that 5,25 work also. |

if the x-ray machine doesnt have any strong magnetic fields inside it shouldn't matter to the disks. after all x-ray is just light at another wavelength. |

x-ray is fine, don't carry them through the metal scanner! it's magnetic, x-ray is not.

I have transported three disk boxes from Germany to Canada via plane, they were in checked-in luggage. So far all of the disks (most of them way over 10 years old) that I tried still worked fine. |
