'Theatre Europe' creator Alan Steel died...

Granted, it happened in 1996, but this may be news to many of you, as no information exists, on the subject, anywhere on the internet (which surprises me).

I discovered this from the agent who once represented his interests (I am a filmmaker, by trade, and I use c64 music and effects in the films I make; my search for him started 2+ years ago, and ended today).

Anyway, I thought I'd pass this on, as his work doubtless has several fans (I, personally, was addicted to 'High Frontier' (Activision, 1987), one of his other war games).

Best,

Oh, that's sad to hear, Theatre Europe had some good ideas and it seems that strategic games were his main interest.

This sort of info is useful for http://www.mobygames.com

I agree; I took your advice, and the Moby Games admins are reviewing the info, as we speak.

thanks Gabriel ,

I didn't know.. I do have memories of that game for 2 reasons, the music and you got to a part in the game where there was a phone number to ring for some pass code...

I thought oh it'll never work.. I dialled the number and to my surprise got the pass code.

I guess the majority of us are 30+ years age now.. so alas mortality will hit all of us at some point =/

A friend of mine loved to play that game, I didn't have a clue how to play it.

The music was nice indeed and suits the game or just not, "Give peace a chance" from John Lennon as a sid tune.

I also have the boxed original right here.

TE was one of my favorites. And most played game on Power64 even today.

Hope Alan is making some beautiful code wherever he is now...
