I have a faint memory that this cable is just a straight cable, and the connectors are dsub-25-style, right? Better check it before doing anything, of course, but I believe it is that simple. |

Confirmed: DB25 male to DB25 male straight through and through with pins 2 and 25 blind (meaning not connected and not needed)

Does a C128D keyboard work with an SX64?
(I could try... yet I'm too lazy and perhaps someone just knows) |

android: i think your caps lock is also failing.. if you're referring to me, I'm sorry I forgot to PM you back, but then again.. there's this nice "Renotify user" button.
the rest: android asked if this cable would do the job. I figured that it being a non-IEEE compliant cable shouldn't by itself mean that it would not work, since the original cable most likely is not compliant either, being more than 10 years older than IEEE 1284 and all... apparently it didn't work, though.
Now, I did a test and it works perfectly using a 1 meter IEEE 1284 compliant cable, then I had another look at the cable above and noticed it was freekish 10 meters long!!!!! (I'm sorry android for not spotting that the first time)
I'm guessing that a non-IEEE 1284 compliant cable could also do the job if it is properly shielded and not too long. However the length of that cable, maybe combined with insufficient shielding, is just too much for the 6526 to handle.
I have no access to the IEEE 1284 standard, so can anybody perhaps tell me what type of cable requirements it describes in regards to length and shielding? |
