MOS 8580 SID-Player / ready after years of dreaming

My Dreamproject in a perfect housing (ready after years of dreaming):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bUd8iRmyWk

Infos:
- MOS 8580 SID-Player in a Pioneer DT 555 case.
- Driven by a AT91SAM7S256 @ 48MHz.
- 64KB RAM / 52KB for PSID-Files.
- 256MB SD-Card for 35000+ PSID-Files. Accessed by RAW-Sectors.
- Display 2x16 HD44780.
- Trust 2.1 Soundsystem.
- Panel connected: power On/Off, next menupoint, enter, AT91SAM7S256 reset.

It was a very hard way to the end-result. Thanks to everyone who supported me. Special thanks go to MyWife (for not killing me), MyKids (for loving SID-Tunes), Frank Buss, Stephan W., Atmel support, Commodore for the great time, Thomas Pototschnig, Andreas Schwarz, Benedikt K., A. K., JojoS, Marcus Harnisch, www.mikrocontroller.net

Kind regards,
Peter

Hello Isildur,

sorry, there are no plans like that. But what I want to do is to build a website around the player, where all things about it on (connection-diagrams, firmware / source etc...). But this will take a while, because my time is sadly very less.

On the other hand, I would not support cannibalism of old commodore-hardware. So I think also in the direction of sid-emulation. I have made several tests with 8580 <-> reSID. I think maybe reSID sounds different, but not bad (in my opinion). But for this I also have to take some other hardware. I had a look on LPC3131 (about 200MHz). Maybe this could work...

Kind regards,
Peter

Hello raf,

I know all those projects. And they are great and inspiring. But isn't it also, that if bmw comes out with a new car, that there are many other cars out there before? It was something i was interestet in and i wanted to learn, how such thing works. So its good for me, even if there is something out there.

Kind regards,
Peter
