DIN to VGA cable ???

I have tried asking this on FB aswell, but was asked to give it a go here too. So here we go:

I was wondering, if it is possible to find a din to vga cable? Meaning I would like to connect a c64 directly to a pc monitor through a vga port! (And NO I dont have other options on the monitor)

I was hoping for something like this:

http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/atari-st-to-vga-cable-with-s..

But is it even possible ?? Seems like some sort of converter has to be involved =/

which is somewhat adequate, if you can live with dropped frames and tearing..

the only solution that gives real satisfactory results would be a chameleon though, but that is a bit more expensive of course.

Those composite/S-VHS to VGA converters are a bit hit and miss; the innards seem to vary whilst the case remains the same, so some work better than others. The one i got for about £12 works reasonably well from composite with an Amiga (although it's nowhere near perfect) but looks appalling with a C64 through either connection, stretching the image vertically, distorting it and washing out almost all of the colour.

Looking at the photos in the auction, mine's got six buttons whilst that one has four and the VGA in and out are reversed.

I will investigate a bit more in the cables first then!

Thanks for your input!

Connecting an Atari ST to VGA via a simple cable is possible, but will only give you the high non interlace resolutions (640x400) used for some applications. ST games and a lot of other software used the normal PAL/NTSC resolutions, these won't work on VGA without a converter.

On C64 a simple cable will never do it. You need a converter, and most converters cannot even deal with the C64 signal.
