3D object building program

I am thinking about doing an animation reproducing the frames of a 3D rotating object, kinda of what Reanimated demo shows. Can someone suggest any program that would allow me to draw the object I want and set it in several positions in order to take screenshots of the frames, which would later be used to make the movement on the c64?

yes, the amount of work to learn is what I want to avoid, if possible. The other option is to code something to do this on the C64: a simple gfx editor to edit each slice of the image I want and then reproduces the 3D object given the X,Y,Z rotation angles. 4-color images can be enough, to simplify the thing and use it in a char matrix.

Just encode to avi and use virtualdub to extract frames. then do whatever you want with each seperated frame

Dunno about making stuff in Blender but rotating around the origin and exporting I've tried before. IIRC set a rotate keyframe at the start of the timeline with 0 rotation. Then rotate the object to the target rotation and set another keyframe later down the timeline. (you can preview by moving the timeline)

for reanim8ed we used cinema 4d, which is kindof easy (much easier than blender, imho) to learn.

bottom line, there's no easy way, there's no software that you will install, start and in a few minutes figure out how to place an object, and then you start exporting. This will not happen. You have either learn the very basic usage of some CGI software package, or do it yourself in a high level language.

the easy way may be if you find someone who already can handle a 3d software like this and will do it for you.

Google SketchUp was designed from the start to be extremely intuitive and easy, long before Google bought it. http://www.sketchup.com/product/newin7.html

Haven't tried it myself but was blown away with the tutorial on how easy a 3D-modeller can be.

@Algorithm: i guess its not only export to frames but make
it 3 colors for hires (and then split to char+screen )
if its too colours its will be reduced to 16 colors or blured , but i don't really familiar with the good technique of animations . i would like to hear how really ppl do it simple (not only for 3d but for avi to c64 animation)

yeah the tutorial is like the commcercial which show how easy is to clean a stove :)

google a bit on how to export and create an animation with it, its not simple. and my guess is it is easyer to make a looping animation with blender, as sketchup is for the lazy it probably can not consume value based orientations.

after some more googling: sketchup may do the job, still it needs to be learned and googled :)

Dr.J: The virtualdub process would only be the initial start to export the frames. Then can do whatever with the data. My CSAM tool has the ability to load AVI directly and convert to charsets (albeit lossy in most cases)
