In Finland they released a huge zine called Floppy Magazine in 85-88. I happen to have most of the disks in my collection. Are you interested in those? Most of the stuff is written in Finnish, but you seem to seek also the original language mags, so these would suit aswell.

There are about 20 disks, so please let me know soon, so I could start "d64:ising" them.

Wowsers!
I used to be one of the Internal editors during some years.
I noticed you're in need of issue#1, the sad news is, it got probably lost in space, no one of the WOW'ers I know seems to have a copy of it. Some day, I'll check all my disks, maybe it is somewhere out there, let's hope :)

When are you planning to put the site online? Sounds quite interesting.

All:
MSG me your email address and I will send the complete mag list as it is at the moment.

The site is getting closer to completion and will be around 3 times bigger (at this stage) than c64mags.com

Dosoo: I`d very much like to see those "Floppy Magazines"! I remember I even ordered a few back in the 80`s, before I got into the scene.

You see I`m finnish as well! ;-)

And what about "Weird Crud"? - Cant remember how many issues of that there were.

Research and collection will be an ongoing job ofcourse. Fortunately a huge amount of this has already been done.

Not that my french is very fluent either, but yes: it's some kind of a real diskmag. "Le premier canard francophone", which means "the first duck in french language" :). And they're still searching for issue 4, and issues > 10.

@jazzcat:

i feel a little bit honored that you're looking for our diskmag "popelganda". the only problem: back in 1996 we in payday quit scene, so there are no more issues of popelganda than you can find here in the csdb. ;)

but we're already working on the 6th issue, and it's gonna be released in the next weeks (hopefully).

Hello.

Is there a website I could visit for more information on disk based magazines covering the CBM scene? I know that Jazzcat is compiling such a list and creating a website, but it apparently doesn't exist now.

Secondly, I'm planning on doing a review of sorts, covering some c64 demo scene based disk magazines. I plan to review Vandalism News and Domination. Since this is primarily for the North American audience, I have to cover Driven for historical purposes and SceneWorld, even though SceneWorld's quality leaves it a lot of room for improvement.

What other diskmag or two should I review? There is only so much space for a printed publication and I feel I can include one or two more disk magazines.

Lastly, what is considered to be #1 in the CBM disk magazine scene? I notice there's a Top Ten or Top Five list in CSDb, but I didn't see any lists covering disk magazines unless I'm not looking in the right places. I myself have a preference for the #1 demo scene based disk magazine, but I'd rather keep my opinion to my printed article instead. :)

Thanks,
-Todd Elliott

The Beergarden is NTSC friendly, also 1581 and FD2000 friendly. Get it at your C64 FTP although last issue released was August 2002 or so.

The biggest C64 scene mag archive has expanded more, this site now holds over 1.4GB of C64 "scene" media. In this update a further 138MB of new paper and disk magazines have been uploaded. Please continuing supporting the site, we need your help in order to preserve the history of our culture.
