Appearance by hacker in the swedish news and television, 1988-89.

This topic is mainly aimed towards the swedish audience who might know, although i'm aware that there might be other people around here which might know aswell. As you might or might not know, a wellknown swedish C64 user (which we can call Erik XIV) appeared in Datormagazin, the evening newspapers and on the swedish television during the swedish VISA-scandal which basically took place in 1989.

I remember seeing the spot on the telly - but I can't remember what the program was called, nor what the short interview contained - so I have two questions:

1) What was the program? Did he appear at more than one program? Do anybody have a videocapture of this show?

2) In the program, Erik XIV downloaded and ran an intro or a demo on his C64 which I remember beeing impressed by. What was the intro or demo he ran?

Thanks in advance.

1: "Sputnik" I think it was just one spot. (maybe some used in mainstream news too) No capture here.

Wasn't Erik XIV a member of Agile? And why isn't he in this database yet?

It wasn't really a scene apprearance, was it? :)
I think that handle was only used on that particular spot.

According to the article in oberoende computer, erik xiv appeared on aktuellt in may and showed the demo "gergamygga".

Unfortunately it doesnt seem to be as easy to buy old material from swedish television as it is from swedish radio.

Lemme go out on a limb and state that it was probably Karl XII, as he both coded Gergamygg and was in Agile. Also, the names do bear a certain resemblance.

Lucky me that I work at SVT. Mail me the info and I'll see if someone can help me at work with this.

Thanks for the info. I already knew the alias of the guy in the spot, although I had no idea that it was Gergamygg. Let's just hope that Sledge can fix these programs - atleast Sputnik!

So, the Sputnik show was back in 1989 too? In May?

Someone who have the exact date of the Aktuellt clip?

The article only says that it was on aktuellt at the end of may and that it was the main news that evening.

I should be able to remember it myself, since I saw it that evening. But I'm getting old... hehe..

Bump!

If someone knows the year, month and even date of the Aktuellt sending, I would like to know. I have tried to search the archives at work for it, but it would be easier if I knew the date since the possibility to search is limited. I don't want to look through 100 tapes looking for it :-)

Sputnik:

Sometime in May 1989. I believe it was broadcasted weekly, which limits it a maximum of about four shows. That's the place to start. If I remember correctly (can anybody verify this?) the Aktuellt headlines was pretty much a reaction on that show.

Aktuellt:

Somewhere in the end of May. Probably the day after the broadcast of Sputnik.

Great Twoflower! I found it right away! Date: 1989-05-25

Now the hard part remains though. But I'll be back soon! :)

It would be really kick ass to see the segment again!

Something else you can look for is the episode of Barnjournalen when they talked about how dangerous video games were. I know they mentioned Barbarian and showed Commando Lybia, but when it was aired, I have no clue.

If you ALSO can fix all episodes of Bit För Bit, then I'm gonna be your slave forever. ;)

Sleggy, can you search the whole archive and go nuts with copying stuff? Sounds like I need to get a job at SVT.

Bit För Bit, was that the TV-show where they showed demos (I only remember Amiga demos, but perhaps C64 aswell)?

-edit- Yes it was!

Just a thought: What does Karl XII think of this old material getting digged out of the archives and possibly getting posted on internet?
