THE MOVERS Treasure Chest III

A new thread with a new collection...

Here is my own collection, 3600+ disks converted for your pleasure, hopefully containing some missing or incomplete releases from the scene.

The disks were sitting in my garage in Tasmania, Australia. This is my SECOND collection of C64 wares as my first collection (disks spanning 1985-1996) along with all other earthly belongings, was destroyed with my house in 1996.

If you want me to re-convert anything, just tell me what's on the disk and the image number. Keep in mind, I will wait some time until all requests have been lodged, as I don't want to keep digging through the boxes over and over.

The collection is a 620MB 7zip file, available on the link below. Thanks to Mace for the temporary hosting.

Jazzcat Disk Collection

If you wish you download my recently scanned Scene Disk Cover Collection (1GB), grab the below link:

Great, more disks to look through!

Hope this is posted somewhere else, getting 4KB/sec to 8KB/sec on the download.

Yeah, speed is low because it's my personal ADSL connection (4/1).
But it's free and there's lots of space :-)

Dave said it was temporary.

[edit, 21.58h]
Ok, I'm uploading the file to another domain with more bandwidth. It'll take a while, though.
In the past I have used this domain for other files for you here to download and it was reported that you definately needed a d/l manager as the connection was not very stable.
That didn't change, but I'm sure the speed is way better that what it is now.
Will let you know when it's up.

[edit, 23.32h]
Ok, that ain't working... host has a limit to traffic and file size and I'm not risking it.
I will split the file and put it on Rapidshare later this week.
Upload will be from the office, to spare my own connection ;)

Thanks.

Rapidshare sucks, put it on real space or if using free space, use something like Adrive.

thanx for the collection Jazzcat, nice! :)

coming next from me soon is also another 1000-2000 disks converted (if not more, hehe)...
though I need to build up an 'old pc' first to hopefully get that XAP running in parallel mode, as it doesn't run actually on my current 2 pc's... else I have to transfer serial :|

I'm using a old pc motherboard just lying on top of a box, to do my transfers :)
But, I've recently bought a 1541u so plan to use that for the remaining transfers.

Thanks for the collection Jazzcat,

I have put it online on a 10Mbit line LINK REMOVED

Note that it will be available there for a very limited time, a week at most and then it will be removed. The host will be taken offline too.

...should be sufficient for a few downloads so Mace doesn't have to take all the traffic until it finds a dedicated 24/7 home :)

As promised I'm here to fill up the treasure chest for all your pleasure!

Let's start first with a great collection I have recently transferred.
+1400 images with plenty of crackz, demos and utilities and I'm pretty sure you'll find some goodies in... check it out! (c;

grab the sweet thing at MRD_XFER_JZ_Collection @ ADRiVE

Please do me a favour: Do *not* only collect - do also check and add missing stuff here to help CSDb.
If you do, let us know which box you're checking, still having the disks here for a while, in case some files needs to be retransferred.

Currently I'm transferring another bunch of 700-800 disks before I'm going to check/xfer the 9 boxes of tadpole and other collections (yes, there are still a lot more, hehe). So expect more stuff to come! (c;

have fun & enjoy! :)

Set 12.1 (18MB)
Set 12.2 (11MB)
Set 12.3 (6MB, mostly GEOS shit)
Set 12.4 (15MB)

It's on ISP webspace, so fast downloading.

Just upped my collection. It is only a short one (around 170 disks)
Maybe that there are some things from interest.
The collection contains many releases of the Cracker Group OUG (Operation Underground) which are not in the CSDb yet.
Just check it.

http://rapidshare.com/files/284670376/HOL2001_Collection.rar.ht..

PS: The file will be only downloadable for 10 times as I have no premium account at rapidshare.
Probably someone might host it somwhere else after downloading. :-)

Yes, Network 21 is not in CSDb.
There are still some more Groups like: Frantic Soft (Former OUG) and a group called AHP.

There is also more stuff from MCP (Magic Circle Projects) and THT (The Hunting Tigers).

All that guys came from my old hometown and I know them all personally. ;-)

Semi OT: Anyone knows something about "perfect collection"?? Not sure if it's the name of the collection, got it from a friend which is a 4GB file unpacked to ~9-10GB... had no time yet to check that one.
If someone is interested and f.e. Meatball can create ftp-account, I would upload it though I have only 32/2.5Mbit line... (guess I need to upgrade to 50 or 100mbit someday, hehe)

btw, still 150-200 disks to go on current collection I'm transferring, so expect a new/next package soon... (c;

i'm always sceptical about such huge collections ... most likely just tons of stuff downloaded from the net, or plain copies from one of the various cds that are circulating.

nope mastro, it's *one* 4GB 7zip file here... Afair on a quick look inside it contained beside c64 related stuff also C16, C116, Plus/4 stuff or so (not sure)... also a folder with 'compunet demos' I can remember...

and yes Groepaz, you could be right... like said, I haven't checked it yet, maybe I do a dir-listing and post that, in case someone is interested in.

just wondered about "perfect"-collection, that's why I've asked if anyone knows more about... (c;

@Groepaz - Yep. It's really amazing how much releases have been unknown, forgotten or missed all the time and still are. I am quite sure that there are much more titles in the packages we shared here.

All missing stuff should be uploaded. Equal from which package. ;-)

Thx to all uploaders at CSDB and of course to all the guys sharing their disks here.

Agree Skylab. Uploading missing files should be "shared work" by all those who have downloaded the packages and have a look at them...
I'm sorry if I can't check f.e. the latest 3000 images I have transferred and posted here lately due to my limited freetime at the moment (also next is tadpole's 9 boxes).
But that's why I also post them here... (c; to fill the treasure chest and share stuff in hope others will check 'n contribute by uploading missing files.
I'm sure there are lot's of missing stuff in the packages!

Yes, the limited freetime is the biggest problem for me, too. :( (Work, family etc...)
We are no more teenagers with much of freetime like in the 80s. :o)

Yeah. And so best thing is to share a bit of the personal freetime with some work on history. If a lot of people do this way it will much easier to save our history.

No files, just an update.
Earthshakers 13th set is coming up: all floppies are transfered, they only need to be checked and converted from NIB to D64.

The last set, number 14, is on its way too, but the condition of the discs is very poor and it's a mixed collection of C64 discs and other formats (probably Apple II or PC). It's a hell of a job to find the right ones...

@Jazzcat: It's semi-permanent as it's the webspace at my former ISP/employer, but they don't have a habit of disabling old accounts :)
As I'm getting set up properly in my new house I'll re-host everything (and include as much stuff as possible from these threads) on my own server as I've got fibre at home now.

@Marauder: Hopefully I'll get things set up and start updating with the missing stuff over christmas.

I *might* be able to provide ftp upload aswell, will have to look into that.

thanx TMB, no problem about updating the stuff... just wondered. (c;

Might be a good idea to host the stuff at your or any other place then, in case the current account get disabled by your former employer someday.
Just let us know... we sure can provide lot's more old packages which are not hosted yet. Ofcourse depends on how much space you can provide...

anyway, thanx for your help/hosting it!

ULTIMATE C64 SCENE MAG UPDATE #8
http://mags.c64.org

The Ultimate C64 Scene Mag Archive is the most comprehensive and authoritative collection of magazines from the illusive yet dominate C64 scene underground. Its been around 1 year since the last update to the archive and we have collected some treats that have waited too long to be spread. I should also mention, that I would like to expand this archive further. If space is provided we could add all C64 commercial magazines like Commodore Format and Your Commodore (currently only selected titles are held in the archive like ZZAP!64).

Anyway, here is the pack including the main zip.

Mags.C64.Org main file (1.9GB)
Mags.C64.Org Update #8 (498MB)

I want a more permanent home and also void of copyright issues :D

For a pretty exhaustive list, take a look at:

www.bombjack.org/commodore

He used to have them posted, but now posts to newgroups/bittorrent, due to the massive download as the mags were posted. Also has dvd's avail. of everything posted so far. He's up to 20 dvd's of stuff so far and may have as much as 10 more to update with.

Re-xfer of a couple of disks that was posted earlier, a few new successful reads. The magnetic surface started to wear off, see piccy inside .zip.

These are the last bits and bytes, rest of them are scattered around inside my drive as black goo.... :(

Hello,

Here is another package.

These 400+ disks were borrowed out by a friend who wanted to share them with all c64 enthusiasts.

On a quick look, "beardsle soc/esi" and "s.p.u.d. -sin-" are not found on CSDB.

Download the package and add missing entries to CSDB (thanks!).

File Name: ghdisks.zip
Size: 58MB

Enjoy!

Here is a link for a new collectors site that myself and Elwix/Style have been percolating for the last few months. Take a look an let us know what you think. We'd love the feedback, or any tweaks anyone might be able to come up with.

The biggest thing is we wanted everything to be in a central depository, where people, mainly the hardcore collector types, could make sure the files were accessible if need be.

Demonger -X-, really appreciate your effort... (: just one question, is it possible to put also one file with all files from the images (including collection name) into the metadata or maybe as separate download? this way you could easier search for files, instead of opening each dir-list in every folder?

I can't speak for elwix as he's really the brains of the operation, but ideally we'd make it where you could select releases and d/l them. I'm sure that'll be a work in progress for a long time to come, but that's the plan. Also, we'd like to use some of the pc based duplicate file finders and scan the archives. Not sure that'd work in many cases, but if we can trim them down, especially single file games/demos that would be ideal. Too often the releases have mainly been rehashes of what is already available, and then spread via torrents. I'm sure alot of people remember the renaming days for points/credits from warez spreading days. We'd like to get a more concise database, without 20 versions of the same group release in each archive. That along with the active archiving that is going on, hopefully we can get alot more done over the next year or so. Anxiously awaiting the derbyshire ram collection, and some others, and I have a contact or 2 that I'm working on to fill the gaps as well. Be looking for some good stuff over the next few months. Also, if anybody has any collections they're sitting on, please back them up. Never know when a fire, flood, or girlfriend will erase what you have. hehe.

Some time ago I asked Deadbeat for a complete mirror of good old IRC BOT Sharkbite, but he only had a rather bad copy of the website which mirrored Sharkbite back then. Bad in the sense of a few files missing from the web.archive.org dump he sent me.

I was able to retrieve a few of the missing files but there are some left to go for. See the included directory for yourself - if someone likes to complete this just for the sake of the collection, please go ahead. Not a too hard task I assume.

The original archive I got was around 80 MB. The 100 MB extended version can be grabbed here:

http://ftp.pokefinder.org/tmp/Sharkbite_TheSharks.rar

Just pass it to your collection sites and mirrors and take a moment to pray for Sharkbite :)

for the moment it would be more then enough to merge all the separate dir-lists also to one file and make it available for download or so... then you could see in which collections the files are...

Alot of the csdb stuff is already labeled. Alot of the others, not really. We've picked them up over the years. Random links, torrents, feeds from emule/edonkey back in the day, rehashes and recompilations, etc. We try and give credit where we can, tho. Also, keep in mind we are NOT keepers of the knowlegde, so we don't want others to think "Oh, they have all those releases, now we won't have access to them", that's simply not the case. We're doing this more from the archival/scene history standpoint. Also, let me be clear about something else. In a previous message I stated we'd like to deduplicate some of the archives. While that may be true, we only plan on showing the files that have had some of the duplications taken out, and those archives put in another area. We don't intend to erase the originals. Each compilation is treated as another piece of commodore user history and will be treated as such.

Don't know who's in germany, but there's a guy on lemon posting a bunch of disks that he'd like to goto a good home. Thought I'd post them there in case someone would like some stuff to archive and post here.

Also, he's got a good part of a '64er collection as well.

if someone know how and can tell me how to make a good dump, please tell me. sending with snailmail (fax dosnt work..hehe) to someone who do this is also possible.

i have:
1541-ii with parallel cable (i almost do my transfers with this - on an old laptop with nibread)
does nibread with 41tracks helps?

mmc-replay with rr-net
1541u1 (maybe a 5141u2 in the next weeks)
unmodded 1571 (not sure if ok, no parallel cable)

I used a 1541-II with a parallell cable and an old laptop earlier, but now I use my 1541U and WarpCopy.

Btw swasti, the 1541u2 doesn't have Ethernet (or is USB ethernet dongles supported now?), better to use 1541U?

A 1571 should work via WarpCopy just like a 1541/-II I'd guess?

I only know of StarCommander able of using 1571 and saving d71. No clues on opencbm.
For sure Warpcopy site doesn't list 1571 as usable devices but better hear from Graham.

Courtesy of Nucleus, here's a small pack of Transcom releases.
http://iancoog.altervista.org/hid/TCOM.7z (if appears the Altervista redirector, just click on the "qui" link)
I've removed only the obvious duplicated files, not yet finished checking it. Interesting for the rels from Serbian division of TCOM.
Please host on the usual mirrors, so I can remove it from my site.

Whenever it is really the original of a clone copier program a plain d71 might not even be enough.

Groepaz might know wether e.g. Catweasel could create some g71 gcr image from such a disk and wether it is actually usable in vice or so?

here the redump from the nibbler disk - sadly its not an original disks - an on side 2 are games (not redumped - they are on disk179)

redump 3times 41tracks

if you redump as d64/using a 1541 you only read side A of course, but there's no use even to retry then if side b has been overwritten with something else.
"F-NIBBLER" ,P|$1C01| 19/1 |bad t/s link (49/0)
files on side A have sectors linking to side B(tracks 36-onward on 1571 are on side B)

Yesterday I uploaded two 120+MB 7Z-files to TDD with a total of 2026 BIN-images of Stirf's collection (/pub/c64/incoming/Misc).
You can't download them from there, so if someone with the right permissions would be so kind to put them somewhere where others can see them, I'd be much obliged, CBA. ;-)

I've released the BIN-files as MdZ found out that there are some images that won't work as D64.

Not sure if it belongs here, move it to an adequate place if need be:

Whilst searching for old treasures (that unfortunately proved lost after the unsuccessful search), I found some small gems.
The only thing that might be interesting for some, though no crack but an original, is an audio CD containing C64 software, to be loaded into the C64 via the cassette port (the cinch-to-C64 cable is included, but can easily be soldered by anyone as it is only connectors, cable and a MC14069). Besides that, some Hülsbeck audios are directly playable for audio CD player on that CD.

True, but you still can d/l the slow original if you want to see it.
Thanks to The MeatBall for mirroring anyway.

Edit: The link in The Meatball's page contains swapped letters. If you change the URL of the RAR to what you would expect it to be, it works.

A bit unrelated, but speaking of CDs, anyone got information about the EDOS system that was in some stores around 1990? Here's a catalog with info about the system: http://cpcrulez.fr/GamesSF_not/EDOS_MAGAZINE_1991-1992__ENGLISH..

Judging by the traffic, the cdrom and amiga history complete was popular (some 80 gigs downloaded over 3-4 days)...

Anything else people can think of that is worth mirroring?

http://ftp.pokefinder.org/tmp/C128_-_Streamlined.rar ~350 MB

Obscure data. Got it from "The Kid" (?) on IRC and it has some C128 stuff on it. Some gfx inside title it "Gamebase 128" while the filenames look like several known sources were used to compile the directories. Screenshots and other material (JiffyDOS e.g.) still coming with it while several emulator packages (likely outdated anyhow) got removed.
"Initial" source is named "Underground-gamer" - whatever that is again. :)

The "_unknown" is due to these collections have been on my harddrives for a while and the origin is unknown(i.e. who gave them to me).

Afaik, they are public collections, if i am wrong, let me(and TMB) know.
