The Quill
Hey,
I was talking to Tim Gilberts of Gilsoft this week.
I had some version of The Quill way back in the 80s. A friend had a look and inserted a routine. Arrow Up and a number to load a picture from disk.
Tim was fascinated! He said, if any of such version comes up, he'll include it in his archive.
Sadly, my original disks are destroyed.
So, who can make this possible? And please *only* The Quill version 4WD.

None? Really?
Aren't you always on the lookout to *jewel* software? |

A quick search brings up the following.
https://csdb.dk/search/?seinsel=all&search=quill&Go.x=0&Go.y=0&..
It seems no one has made a crack of that version. |

The Quill had The Illustrator for HiRes "SVG-style" GFX.
To use Multicolor or HiRes Bitmap I'd suggest using DAAD with Maluva instead. |

How could it be recognized? Is "4WD" the tag? |

The 4WD = 4 word Version was used in the commercial Game Bugsy.
You should get in touch with Stefan Voigt, the guy behind games like The Curse of Rabenstein. IIRC he is active on X and other platforms. He is very deep into stuff like this. |

Yes, "4WD" was for "Four-Word-parser". Much simpler than Infocom's.Can differ between "bronze sword" or "iron sword".
@Larry: I know about DAAD & DRC & Maluva. But that's not the point.
@bugjam: Yeah, I guess it wasn't cracked. It had no protection. Was useless without any manual. My fault.
You can get it indeed on Stefan Vogt's DAAD-Pages:
http://8-bit.info/the-gilsoft-adventure-systems/
And yes, I know that DAAD is much more advanced. But that still is not the point.
It is, that a friend put a routine in within a weekend, so I guess it's not that hard, to put an arrow up in the location description, together with a number. And it loaded a Koala or something, Art Studio? from disk. It's almost 40 years, dudes!
But this was the idea.
And Tim Gilberts, the founder of Gilsoft, would love to have it!
So again, aimed to the coders. Anyone? |

Probably moot but the ">>> Quill & Illustrator for CBM64" link on Steven Voigt's website appears broken. But I assume it would just download one of the cracks hosted on CSDb anyway? |
