Wanted: d64 file manager for windows XP
I've started working on my d64 collection again, and now I'm in need of a good d64 file manager. Starcommander constantly hangs, c64commander is not very useful because you can't get to the windows file system, only the d64's and c64copy isn't exactly what I'm looking for either (though so far it seems to work the best out of these 3).
I'm using Total Commander as my Windows file manager and in the ideal situation it would recognize my d64 files and open them (much as winamp can play sids with the correct plug-in). However, knowing that possibly won't work, an extra program to do the same would be acceptable too.
I kinda remember seeing such a program a while ago but can't seem to find it, or even remember its name. Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I hope one of you can grant me that wish :)
Nb: I don't need transferring posibilities, as I'm using a dos-box next to my c64 for that. This is all about managing the already transferred disks. |

perhaps http://almighty.c64.org/d64editor.html might do the job? |

I was just looking at that one actually .. it's not bad but once again views the d64 as the root, so I can't switch between images without having to load the next one in.
I did find 2 plug ins for Total Commander though that at least enable me to view the contents of a d64 file. Copying is not an option (for example: you can't see the number of free blocks) but it's the best option yet. |

Didn't know about that one, it's a nice tool though but again not exactly what I'm looking for.
Maybe I need to tell you why I'm looking for such a filemanager: I'm working on my collection of d64 images again, sorting demos per group and then per year. Then I would like to put all demos from that year together on one or more images but by doing that I will lose visibility of the demos itself, since the images will be called something like 'wwe89001' or something.
The total commander plugin allows me to see what's on the disk, but the files are not in the right order.
Another option is to put every single demo on a seperate d64 image, which will take up a lot of my diskspace.
Man this sorting your collection is hard! |

Another one... "64'er Commander" http://c64.revivalteam.de./cmd/cmd.html
But it seems there is no XP version (yet?) |

a tc-plugin would be nice indeed. or maybe a stable version of starcommander for newer win systems. =) |

Word of warning: 64er Commander will save one byte too few if you extract prg files from diskimages to the harddisk. Not sure if they fixed it in the meanwhile (I told them about it, don't worry). At least it did with a lot of my files, which was slightly annoying... :-/
A nice program apart from that. Give it a go if this nasty bug is fixed. |

probably this tool might help you?

as far as the feature-side explains, you can easily drag&drop files from the explorer-window to a loaded d64-file and vice versa. should be quite fast to create a d64-image with several small one-file-demos.
