C64 Demo Production Article Proofing
Hello.
I'm finishing up an article covering C64 demo production and how C64 demos are presented to the C64 demoscene audience. Topics include cracktros, intros, trackmos, megademos, concept demos, dentros, etc. The article tries to explain such concepts and lists a couple of excellent examples. This article is intended for publication in a printed North American Commodore-oriented newsletter.
I would like to have someone proofread the article for technical accuracy and if possible, offer additional examples along the lines of my C64 demo production article. If you are knowledgeable in this area, please send me a private message and I'll get right with you and send you the article. I only need one person, and hopefully someone will come forward soon.
I do plan on eventually reprinting the article as a PDF file for later distribution on the Internet.
Thanks,
-Todd Elliott |

Read the topic intro vs one-filedemo about that. We have discussed that and all definitions you need to know is.
Demo is simply a demo.
Intro is a part which is infront a game/tool/porno-movie or whatever it is.
Dentro/trackmo/shitmoo etc just dont mention those term sfor your readers, it is onlt ghetto-slang probably invented my some l'amiga scener many many years ago.. just forget them!

Hello.
I found 'dentro vs. onefiledemo thread under CSDb Questions forum, and re-read it. I understand the overall sentiment against such naming conventions.
However, how do I explain to the reader why a C64 demo group decided to code their latest demo with an IRQ-loader and no user interaction (i.e., no space bar presses.)? All the readers of the publication knows that such demos will not work on their CMD setups.
By giving names, concepts, etc. to such demo production techniques used, I hope to arm the reader with ample information so that he/she can understand such demos and run them appropriately on a C64+1541 setup, or to seek only demos friendly to CMD setups, etc.
For a couple of examples, I did name Dawnfall and OneDer as dentros in my article, Elysion as a trackmo, and EagleSoft as a group distributing cracktros. Should I just call them all demos? :)
Enjoy.

No, you shouldn't call intros demos. |

The reason for IRQ-loaders and no user interaction is ofcause to make the demos as good as possible on a normal C64+C1541. Demos isn't made for strange hardware configuratons like the CMD-stuff. They're made for (normal) C64's. Remember, the idea is to push the C64 to it's limits (code,gfx,mzx,design-wise), not to get aid from mysterious hardware. |

Not that one would get much aid from CMD-devices, as they're still using the same serial bus :) Well, perhaps running some calculations at 2MHz in the drive.. |

Well the CMD drives do have good cache setups (compared to 1541 atleast). they also use modern mechanisms (too bad FD2000 can't use any standard 3.5" floppy off the shelf and work as a replacements for the TEAC - is it purerly a voltage thing?). |
