Looking for working versions of games
Hello!
I downloaded the games Bubble Bobble and Silkworm from different places of the net. After transfering them to the real C64 (II) they showed up problems.
Bubble Bobble hangs up in level 10-20 (2 player mode) and Silkworm hangs up in Level 2 (Also 2 player mode).
Maybe the problem lies in my c64 hardware, but otherwise I can play for example Archon and Mayhem in Monsterland for hours without hanging up! The same when I compose music (sometimes about 4 hours a day).
I have also checked the versions from c64.com! Do you have leeched Bubble Bobble and Silkworm from there and do they work on your real c64?
Any of you have working versions?
By the way, be so kind and tell me some sleepers for 2 player games (I know California Games & Co. ...), my friends are going wild because of my c64. :P
Thanks in advance. |

I think it's better if you say which versions (cracking group) of those games do you have. Did you try the Remember version of Bubble Bobble ? |

As I said, I had those versions from www.c64.com (amonf other things). They don't have any intros linked to them. It looks like that the games were even freezed with a cartridge to remove those intros, I am very sure about it.
Whatever thanks for the hint, I have found the games at the Remember page. Sorry for bothering, but I haven't had any experience in searching for cracks. :P |

Lesson 2: If you search for cracks, do that at the following sites:
For new versions of old games:
http://nostalgia.c64.org
http://www.remember64.de
http://www.hokutoforce.c64.org
http://www.onslaught-antiques.org
DMAgic
My group DMAgic did 5 jewel versions of games available here from CSDb (the last link).
Other good places to find cracks are:
The Hungarian C64hq
http://web.externet.hu/sk/c64/
- in Hungarian, but mostly different versions available to choose from
Gamebase 64
http://www.gb64.com or http://www.gamebase64.com
- the largest archive of C64 cracks on the net
http://www.c64heaven.com
C64 Heaven, the site by Mason. Is going to include different cracks from many C64 games. |
