enthusi typing...

Welcome to this tapestreamed upscroller
A few words of wisdom about what you
experience right here right now...

The whole demo makes no use of IRQ
since its occupied by the tape loader.

That's my excuse - what's yours?

The beautyful titlepic
by Ptoing

is of course streamed as well
even though you saw that feature in
several tape games already...

However in this case the image data
and colmap are optimised to favor 0 bits
in the bitmap since for IRQ tape load
0 is read faster than 1 :)

0 take about 70% of the time...

The streamer loads one colmap byte and
8 successive bitmap bytes.

This part here
(also being the endpart)
while playing
this superb

music
by Conrad

streams the 40 char wide upscroller
and since tape is evidently
waaay to fast for you to read
the text at full speed
only every 5th loaded byte is text.

I also slightly slowed down the
overall signal speed to match the hard
upscroll.

80% is sprite data in 4x2
that you see flashing in
every now and then.

do the math how many lines of text
you see before a new sprite-gfx
pops up...

This scroller is mainly limited by
boredom and average live expectancy of
the audience and right now by my
skill to stay awake. It is 8am on
friday and my main tape recorder broke
down and several other bad things
happened too.

This is not good for my rage...
Anyway the length of the text is
in general merely limited by the
length of the tape.

however I declare this the

THE WORLDs LARGEST
TAPE STREAMED SCOLLER

'nough said :)

My first intention was to call this

"The da Vinci load"

turns out that is the title of a porn
movie - no kidding :)

This is probably the right time
to give my cudos
to the organisers
of the

by now already legendary

(in case you read this now)

You see I have to continue typing
since ptoing made such nice greeting
logos... so blame the scene for
beeing so fat.

Well what the heck...I may as well tell
you how tapes are so superior to disks
and all other possibly imaginable
systems of storage (I hope this will
becalm the tape god and make this demo
not to bug fuck around)....

Someone mentioned once that tapes do
not only suck - they suck slowly.

Well, nothing all too wrong with some
thing or someone doing that.

Ok getting late and I have to pack
some things. So enjoy the party and
code on!

One survivor singing off,

enthusi

When I die, I want
