Could anybody confirm that Conan/PureByte and Conan/Stack are the same person? I have some doubts. |

yes they are the same person.
Real name is Matti Järvelin. He lived in Oulu, next to Oulunsalo where I lived during my active scene-times.
The handle Conan truly reflected him physically. |

Just added some Conan cracks whose intros are similar to early Stack cracks. In Tai-Pan's intro he writes "cracked by conan (not that guy in pure-byte,hope this is clear to everybody now!!!)", his address is a p.o. box in Oulu :) So was there another Conan or was he trying to emphasize he's not in Pure-Byte anymore? |

Good job Trurl! I have to confess that I was sure that they were the same person but what is said in the intro of Tai-Pan/Stack seems to be true.
As I talked with Yip/Pure-Byte recently, he didn't remember Matti Järvelin being in the group.
For more evidence I just read the scrolltext in Bitmaps Boing where Conan/PureByte reveals one big thing - he has a son and back in 1987 when I called Conan/Stack he was called to telephone by his dad straight from the dining table.. :-) I'm pretty sure he had no sons back then (being 17/18 years old at the time).
So this all seems now that there were 2 Conans in Finland back then and many seemed to mix them with each other, including myself.
So let's make a difference now between the coder, Conan/PureByte and the individual cracker Conan (later Conan/Stack).

Hey, thanks a lot for pointing this out! Bitmaps boing -demo also has Conan/Pure-Byte's address which is in Tampere not Oulu, so maybe now we can separate the infos correctly :) |

Conan/Stack is the one who attended the DDG-party for sure. Conan/PureByte must be the one who was at the Triad's party in 1987 as there were some other PureByte dudes present aswell (Yip & some amiga-guy).. |
