Covers that you thought were original C64 tunes..

Back in the eighties/early nineties I was a HUGE nerd that never went 'out' or listened to music or whatever the cool kids did (OK, all of the aforementioned still applies, but.. :D)
That meant that pretty much the only music I listened to came from the glorious SID chip. In the years since there has been many occasions where I've heard a tune on the radio/TV/mp3 and gone "WOW! They made a cover of the tune from demo X" and then a second later "Uhmm.. wait a minute.. it was probably the other way around".
Some notable examples:
* Domino Dancing / Pet Shop boys. I thought this was a C64 original up until I heard it on the radio a couple of years ago :D
* The tune from some Success demo, turned out to be a Koto cover
* The superb introtune from Partytrap. It was not until I read the comments here on CSDB that I realized it was a cover.

OK, am I the only one who has experienced this? :D

I recently heard the 1942 music played in a very nice orchestral version on TV. I think it was at some danish crap award show (forgot which one)... Then checked the STIL and found out 1942 is a cover of the music from some movie called "633rd Squadron" from 1964... never knew that ;-)

There is a dude who wishes to remain anonymous who have collected quite a few mp3s that are the originals to the corresponding sids. This collection contains at least to me quite many surprises, such as the original for the Maniac Mansion music etc.

If you wish I could get hold of the collection again and torrent it or something.

I really don't wanna fiddle with torrents nor crapid-share. Can someone provide me some hosting?

some of the c64 ftp sites could host it probably, and I think I'm not alone who would like to dl it.

Most tunes by Hubbard.

"Two Divided by Zero" by Trond. I was also very surprised as Stainless Steel on this one.

Xpiose intro tune by Nordic Beat. I do not know who did the original but I have heard it in a restaurant. (BTW, this one is not in STIL yet. Other tunes from the same SID might be covers as well.)

Ok, I've got the collection here. It's 403230766 bytes zipped and it's called TOCI - "The Origin of C64 Inspiration".

Someone provide me an FTP and I'll up it immediately.
