Handle id #25886 : Soren
I very much understand Jeff changing his nick to Soren. I was thinking about that several times aswell, there is no need behind a nick anymore for the chance of being caught. And 'Rough' - I picked this when I was 14 and thought it was cool. Meanwhile I don't like it anymore except for some nostalgic empathy, the nick name sounds harsh and not cool.
Did anybody else think about using another nick after all these centuries when we grew up? (at least are supposed to...) |

Most people recognize CreaMD, noone probably recognizes Roman Chlebec. Same goes for many FB friends I have. I have problem to identify most of them. There are some examples Whe I don't have problem.. e.g. Ari-Pekka Paljakka I somehow remembered that name since I first saw it ;-) Cool name. There are few others I won't mention anyone specific, but generally I have to lookup a most of the names in CSDB. Nicks still work for me better, not that I love them, or my one, but they work as they were inteded to work. |

there are tons of people in the scene which i know for like 25 years, have met hundreds of times, and i dont know their real name at all. and thats a good thing in my book :) |

It's not about changing to the real name only, but changing the old nick because it belongs to a different time and a character people aren't anymore (and like Soren states in VN "leaving things behind"). e.g. my example what sounded to me cool with the age of 14, doesn't anymore at all within the 30s.
I personally wouldn't use my real name Adam as nickname anyway, because there are several other sceners who use(d) this. |

by that logic it'd make much more sense to change your real name first =) |

Not saying that Soren/Jeff officially chose this path, but some people just want to change their way of life in some way, and that includes activities they do in the scene. Whether people find that positive or negative, it really doesn't matter. What matters is that that individual is happy with his/her decision. |

Thanks very guys.
I felt it was time for a name change and it's not a big deal really. Aswell as in real life, there will always be changes in the scene. :)
We do what we want and what we feel is right - We will still keep the scene going I'm sure. :) |

I've always liked the idea of handles in the scene. It adds to the feeling that the scene is something else than the real world. Real names often sound dull, but with a handle you can feel like a super hero. |

Cruzer: I fully understand that :) I don't know if I would ever want to feel like a super hero though. I am pretty alright with being on a human level and just do the things I like doing. :) |

well.. Cruzer and Jeff are superhero names to me. Soren will have to make some more music to earn it ;-)))) |
