EasyFlash Release

It's not possible to add an crack intro to an EasyFlash release. Current workaround is to change entry to C64 crack, add intro and back to EasyFlash

It's the only way for now. And setting it to EasyFlash release doesn't indicate what actual type of release is anyway, it's like C128 release or DTV release, can be anything at that point. Not really useful categories at the end of the day. An additional flag would have been better.

It is also not even possible to see any Easyflash release in any index here. I added Caren TYE yesterday and when the release type was changed to Easyflash it disappears everywhere. Search does not work either.

Please mods - do not change the releasetype until this is fixed.

if you're using CSDb view mode: Custom, and have not added EasyFlash category in the Custom categories, you won't see it. I was tricked myself with it.
Select Normal mode or customize your Custom view in user settings

Ah... okay. That explains... bit strange that new release types are not active by default, but works now. Thanks.

Hi everyone.

As pointed out by iAN Coog, it's a thing that shows up only if you use custom view mode, as the new type is not by default activated on your custom setting.
We could of cause do this, but then there would be some who didn't want it and would complain why it was suddenly there! :)

I didn't think of this issue when adding the new type, but I will know for the future to make people aware of this at the time we are adding new types.

it'd make a lot more sense to *remove* those silly release types and add those flags we agreed on... a decade ago?

but what do i know :)

(and no, i am sure noone wants that because of some added feature, he will suddenly no more see certain releases. what a silly thought is that? /o\)

I agree with groepaz here, though I thought there was a common agreement on tags instead.
If you check for games on CSDB now many scene releases will not be listed. Neither as game, nor as crack.
Examples:

Ghosts'n Goblins Arcade
Caren - Thank You Edition 2018
The Bard's Tale - Tales of the Unknown
Pirates! +10D
Last Ninja 2 +8D
Prince of Persia

All those Easyflash, REU, IDE64 etc categories should be infact additional flags, not replacing the actual release type. They're infact only causing problems than solving one.

We have what we have now to sort things out (with non-stock releases that need additional hw sorted away from clean C64 stuff). When implementing the easyflash release type we followed the already existing logic with ide64, and dtv etc, which noone opposed before (?). This might have been wrong. Me and Ian coog can together define what flags should be added to which entry-types. And the problem is bigger than this, as demos (and tools etc) can be ntsc-fixed and have intros and be imports just like cracks etc. I would also like a field for what group made the original release of imports do that there is a way to sort them too and avoid having two groups added as releaser for easy access and overview. So before we do small changes we should make a bigger list (which groepaz kindly already did years ago) and implement that. Unfortunately there is only one guy that can do that.
