BBS entries
A request for CSDB would be to include Bulletin Boards as an entry. These BBS'es can be assosciated to groups and in some cases actual productions, such as "war demos" or things from the old days such as buffers (1980s).
It is a real shame that the Boards are not represented here even though they played a major part in the scene, especially in the older days.
Wares Galore, Data shack, Data shack II, The Forum,
Prowl's Place, Terminal Obsession, The Fountain of Lamneth, The Home for the Addicted Pirate, Channel Zero, Dream Park,
Tunnel of Wares etc etc.
What do you think? |

As an old sysop/co-sysop I would love it ;)

Post old buffers at either Antidote or The Hidden (both c*base). It would give it a more genuine feeling imho.

Total agreement from me... this topic was covered more than a year ago and everyone involved seemed to like it. Now would be nice to hear from Perff.

I remember this discussion, and I think the agreement was to add it as a new main-type, like sceners, groups, releases and events.
I must admit that I know very little about BBS's, so I got little idea of what type of information a BBS has, and how to build up the tables to contain this information.
I guess we need a bbs-table with a name, etc, but how many related tables are needed? I guess we need a sysop cross-table between bbs's and sceners, but what more? F.x. can a BBS have multiple phone-numbers, or only one?
Info please. :)

Most boards on C64 had only one number. However this number sometimes changed, having the option for multiple number entry for historic reasons would be great.
You also need to have:
Sysop:
Co-Sysop(s):
Users: (all sceners who had an account on said BBS)
Host Group(s):
Host Magazine: (some disk mags had boards)
Trivia section can cover all other things like (whether is ran on UCBBS, C*Base, Ivory etc etc, whether it was 24 hours (most were), board speed: anywhere from 300 to 2400 baud and in some rare cases higher))

So to get a bit technical here is what is required of tables:
A main BBS-table with name, short name?, trivia, date when it was created and date when it was closed.
The following cross-tables:
- sysop (scener-table)
- co-sysop (scener-table)
- users (scener-table)
(these tables could be one with a type-field instead)
- host groups (group-table)
- mags...... hmm. Not sure about that one. Is this nessesary, and how to implement?
Anything else missing? Perhaps different types of boards, or..? |

Yup that sounds fine, magazines are not necessary as so few have boards assosciated to them - it is something that can be mentioned in the trivia section anyway.
The type of board can be awkward, I'm assuming you mean what program it used, like C*Base, UCBBS etc? (a modern comparison is a website and what script it used, html, perl, etc). If this is the case, I would think in the trivia section also.
Or do you mean by type of board if it is "legal" or "illegal" or "legal/illegal"? If so, then yes, that's a nice option. |

Dunno if it was custom to make bbs-intros in those times. it certanly was later on in the end of bbs's when i was calling boards that had pc/amiga content. So if that is so maby a reference to those. |
