codebase64
Anybody know what happened, it seems to have been nuked?
https://codebase64.org/ just shows a cgi-bin from 2017 and any links to a known page return "well this should be a 404 but they don't even have a 404 page" |

Wanted to setup a cron which does that. Somehow didnt get to it yet.
IF for unknown reasons the DNS to pokefinder.org should ever fail there is also http://codebase64.c64.org and https://codebase64.c64.org thanks to Slaygon :)
http on codebase is not re-written to https so 8bit clients can grab files from there btw :) |

I have ordered the .com domain... so if we can transfer all til there it is all ok for me to pay for the domain and so on.
Someone must make me be able to do that then.

Move it over??? Erm ...
You may point the .com domain to the IP and I'll add it as alias to the domain config. There currently is NO NEED to haste - frantic and me are currently awaiting a status update and we'll see then.
No content is lost and IMHO there is also no pressing matter on changing URLs around the world. |

I am just stating that I can hold the cost of the site but someone else must help if it should be moved over to another server... I am just offering no cost for the site forever as long as I live... just that.

Pal, thank you for buying the expired domain and saving it. Why don't you just redirect it to one of the alternate URLs for now? |

Quote: If I'm not mistaken (as I wrote in: Sizecoding section at Codebase64), this domain can be renewed within about 70 days.
Every global domain after expiring goes into Grace Period (35 days), then into Redemption Period (30 days).
Domain in the Grace Period can be renewed without any additional fees (means standard price only) and still belongs to the owner!
Domain in the Redemption Period can be renewed with additional fees + standard price.
Domain is being freed after about 70 days.
Most domains are sold beeper they become available again and even if they do a, anything with traffic or link juice value will never really become available for "manual" registration again. |

My understanding is that PAL got the .com but the site was originally .org… so the problem of invalid links being all over the net and socials would still be there.
Also, re: the grace period.. I believe GoDaddy is the URL provider. According to a search:-
“ GoDaddy allows a redemption grace period for the domain owner to reclaim it before it goes to auction.
Here's the timeline:
First 5 days: The domain becomes parked, meaning connected websites and email might stop working.
Days 5-19: You can renew the domain for the standard renewal price.
Days 19-26: Redemption fees may apply, and the domain might be placed in an auction if the registrant doesn't renew.
Days 26-30: The domain goes to auction, but you can still try to redeem it with an additional fee.
Day 30: If there are no active bids on the domain, it remains in "Expired" status.
Day 41: All auctions end.
Day 42: If no successful auction bids or backorders occur, the domain is removed from the account and returned to the registry.” |

Right, so if it expired on June 1, there are just a few days left to renew the domain for that price.
@Moloch: What is your take on this? I haven't quite understood if you plan to do this renewal? The way I see it, it would be excellent deluxe if you renewed the original .org domain, and then — if you do not want to deal with it yourself in the years to come — transfer the ownership of the domain name to me or to someone else that we agree on, and we will take it from there. TBH wrote (earlier in this thread) that he might be willing to pay for it, in case that is an issue. If not TBH, I am sure someone else could step up and do that. If you prefer to continue to own it yourself, that is of course totally fine as well, as far as I am concerned. But in either case, it would be great to renew the .org domain name while it is possible, so we don't lose it unnecessarily. |
