I found this out this weekend when I visited my parents. His girlfriends parents are friends of my parents and they told my parents and they told it like it was nothing. Well it hit me.
Back in da days I was his homey, he kinda introduced me to da Commodore 64 scene. I really hung ALOT with him, for years every day. Ive seen him kind of produce every famous C64 track and doing his work for the famous demo dutch breeze. We went to the Venlo meetings and partied with other sceners like Paninaro. I didnt had contact with him for over years (only one occasion, I "met" him online) because I moved out to da big city but it still feel like a loss. He had a really unique personality. Its a shame we just cant chitchat about how we did in our lives and shit.
I knew he was in the musique business, not really my kind of thing , the stuff he did, but I believe he was quite succesfull.
Edwin, you will live through by your music. RIP homey |

I've known Edwin for quite a long time too, I remember hanging out with him at the Joy+MGF+WWE party I helped organize back in '88. About 10 years ago he showed interest in joining Focus but it never happened (can't even recall why), after that we only spoke once or twice. He was quite a unique personality, a real bragger but with the talent to match his words. |

I had his tunes (among others) recorded onto tape, so I could listen to them in school as well, back in the 1989/90. I'm shocked he was just 32. Too fucking early. RIP. |

This is really sad. Luckily he managed to make lots of people happy with his music. Met Edwin back in 1989 when I was a real lamer (I think he saw me as a real lamer - didn't get to talk so much with him since I back then regarded him as bit arrogant... But that never kept me from liking his music ;) ...) I didn't know him that well and I believe he will be missed. Condolensces to his girlfriend, friends and family. Rest in peace.

I strongly recommend his legendary "Enigma introsax"...
Enigma Introsax
and to watch over Blackmail's So-Phisticated 3 for the typical EVS / 20CC style...

E.V.S/20CC? This is sad. I loved many of his great tunes that he composed in the past. He did some great stuff.
May EVS/20CC rest in peace. :(
We all shed a tear to this bad news that came today.
BTW: A tribute demo to EVS is coming up soon, so if any of you have anything you'd like to add to the scrolltext, please send me a PM. |

Dead mostly bits to early that is true even when u 70 or older. But that young people are catched away after loosing the fight against cancer is hard.
I don´t want to tell much, words will give the left ones a bit comfort but this is a situation the bereaved had to solve on their own.
Strange will be listening to the music and keep in mind that he is gone.
Scene, even to threats ppl have with each other,is something which glues many ppl together shareing one interest.
So we walked a long way together, but this his last way he had to take on his own.
So rest in peace and my thoughts to his bereaved.

Hi *
Don't know if many of you remember me, but Edwin an I founded 20cc way back in the midst of the 90's.
Edwin did the music, and I mostly concetrated on the technical bits and pieces (ie: the "music player" software).
Like so many others, I just heard this bad news yesterday. I knew Edwin quite well, as we teamed together to spread the 20CC sound.
Offcourse the sad news came as quite a shock to me, as Edwin was a good friend (we had almost daily contact). He would often call by phone just to let me hear a new tune he had been working on during the day (no email in these early days)!
I can also vividly remember the many times that we were just sitting together with a little "minikey" keyboard (2 octave kid thingie, we didn't had a lot of cash to buy any pro tools). Even though we had no proper gear to work with, you could still really hear the talent that he had. Most of the musical knowledge he had was self tought. Just imagine what would have been possible would he have had full "formal" musical training!
Anyway, I still like to listen to his work nowadays (and not only because of sentimental reasons). Offcourse, some tunes are stronger than others, but there is some very powerfull material out there. I guess we may now consider this work his "heritage" to the scene. Too bad there aren't many conversions of his work on remix.kwed.org (much of his work is definitly worth remixing).
Although I lost contact with Edwin after "growing up", it's hard to forget him. He was a very extravert personality with a cheeky sense of humour - there was always a good laugh when you were hanging out with Edwin.
Too bad he had to leave us at this young age. My thoughts are with his famility and all his many (old and new) friends.

I logged in with the name EDWIN, my sons name EvS, to thank you all for your kind words. It's hard to loose a child and he still had so many plans. I even can't imagine that he isn't there anymore. But I know his music from all those years will be there forever! If there is anybody who like to hear or see more: http://www.floorcontrol.com is his website, only not updated; he was just working on it. |

I wanted to post my condoleances as soon as i heard, anyway, better late than never.
I liked most of his songs in the 20cc music packs though i lost track since 1993 when i abandoned the c64 more or less.
I cought up the rest when downloading the HVSC collection.
His music sure brings back memories again while i were still muddling with Music Assembler :)
Regards,
Vince.

PCW-Tune had actually been playing in my car for a couple of weeks before I found out the author and the name of the tune. ..well.. the wife made the CD and didn't remember what it was ;-) When I finally figured it out only two weeks ago I went into total EVS mode only to find the news of his death a couple of days later :-(
I'm simply crazy about PCW-Tune these days, so thanks Edwin for leaving something really enjoyable and memorable behind.

It's really terrible. People my age shouldn't be dying.
