USSPE's release of Miami Vice is the Newlook crack, same 185 block file with the NEWLOOK sysline changed to -USSPE-. That's designated in the Db as an import and IMO that's being charitable.
This NFI release is a spread of USSPE's import/recrack, same 185 block file. NFI don't explicitly claim to crack it but both of these releases are obfuscated releases of what is a proper NWL crack. I try to be charitable also with imports that come before 1987 but I could go either way with these being imports or recracks. They should both be designated the same though, I think: either both of them are imports or both of them are recracks.
I definitely believe these are the very first NFI releases. Area code 516 is where they started and that's where all the BBS's are listed. The Ancient One was always involved in NY groups like NFI and NEC. Freddy Kreuger and Elm Street BBS are there, this could be a different one than the guy that lived in NJ, although it's close enough to Ridgewood, NJ that he could have moved. I'll definitely be digging deeper into this. These are great finds! Whatever collection these came probably came from this area and hopefully has more stuff like this. |
