Hm i don't know about that. Of course it's easier to go wild in MCI or IFLI or some other newer mode, but looking at speccy stuff (and that mode is even more restricted than c64 hires) it is certainly possible to make stuff that is not abstract in the least and still looks awesome.
I also would not say The Phone The Phone is abstract, with Yus Chunk I just tried to not hide the restrictions at all and so it resulted in the chunky style (it's not the first pic I did like that, there is an unposted one which will get released eventually :D).
I would say give it a try and I think that getting good results in hires is not that hard and it's a very fast mode to work in as well. |
