zak, synonym for music/tune

Howdy!
Why the hell we call 'zak' for a music? Can someone explain, please?
Thanks.

I'd guess it's simply a contraction of "muzak" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muzak), which itself is a variation of "music".

Some of those variation names for music originated on Compunet as well. (moozik etc.) Have a look at the UK demos from 86-87 for a good sample.

I'm highly fond of "musix"... which of course contracts down to "MSX" to nicely partner "GFX"...
