Any Plus4 people around?

... are there? I have a question for you :)

Do parallel cables for floppy drives exist for the Plus4? That is, for drives that are NOT 1551 (i know this one is connected parallel), but eg for the 1541?

I am cleaning up some VICE code at the moment, and noticed it has support for this implemented - probably half working. In any case, IF this really existed, i'd like to see the software (kernal?) that uses it, so i can test/fix this. And if not... it should get removed, of course :)

Speak up! :)

To the best of my knowledge, this page lists all Plus/4 hardware:

http://plus4world.powweb.com/hardware

There is no mention of parallel cable for floppy, nor having such a connection. Now, this does not mean that it did not exist, but there is a very good chance that it didn't.

Your question would best be answered on plus4world forum.

Yes, there was such parallel 1541 support. I don't know anything about it, so I'll just paste here what I've received in response from people who do.

The port bits of the parallel port 6529 IC (which you see on $FD10) need to be connected to the corresponding bits of the 1541 VIA.

TCFS's new games use a loader that supports it.

Unfortunately I couldn't gather more info than that, but you will get answers from knowledgeable people in the plus4world forum. You don't even need to register to ask.

I forgot to mention: What i am asking is if there was support for a parallel cable connected to the *userport* (like it is on the c64)

(and yes, i know plus4world. my experience over there boils down to "VICE sucks!" though - and i know that already >_<)
