UNESCO - Sweden

Congratz.
Additionally, I urge (some) people to open up and check the "Historik:" tab on the linked page. Perhaps it helps clear some things up for them.

Fungus, how that has anything to do with the UNESCO thing? How does that justify trashing the whole idea?
You can have different opinions about the scene origins, and still appreciate what this thing is.

"and this will affect the Demoscene."
Of course not - obvously stupid csdb discussions will ;)

It seems to refer to the addendum at the end of the original post and the sidetrack it spawned, with no assertion regarding the UNESCO award itself.

Perhaps this Pouët thread just created by yours truly, and without remotely-related misguided personal hate-boner fuelled apropos insinuations in its original post, will result in a more civilised discussion of the benefits you alluded to.

One thing. Speaking of “more civilised discussion” as mentioned by Krill.

After I relayed the UNESCO - Sweden news and congratulated in the initial post, the first two responders were Krill and Groepaz. Krill wrote, and I quote: “and this will affect the Demoscene.” and Groepaz wrote, and I quote: “Very important Unesco stuff right there”. These are first responses. Are these perhaps the examples of the said “more civilised discussion”?

@Groepaz:
Look, the first 2 responses emanated some kind of slightly disinterested disdain for the whole UNESCO thing. At least that’s how they seemed to me. Could be I misread them, but if so, I can see I’m not the only one.

If I got it right, what Wacek asked was : why this disrespect for this UNESCO thing? A simple question. There has to be some kind of reason, right?

Now, about the sidetrack. From the top of this thread to the bottom, I made zero claims about the origins of the demoscene. Zero. As in 0. Zilch. Nada. So I really have a hard time understanding why some people keep making their own claims about it, then continue to argue with me for some reason. It would seem that they should be arguing with the author of the article over at “The national website of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in Sweden” instead. Don’t you think so?

Of course.

The sentence after "additionally" was very clearly flamebait, and you know that. It does imply your stance on the origin question.

Close this thread as useless.

What does the cultural/political agenda of the United Nations have to do with the scene? Nothing, that's what.
