Video output quality differences (C64 vs. C64C)

I just purchased a second C64, just as a backup in case something should happen to my trusty old C64C (407566 :D).

The one I just got is of the old brown breadbox models. I hooked it up to my 1084, but the video output quality seems far worse compared to my C64C.
The image seems fuzzier, and on the standard light-blue-on-blue colorscheme there are faint pink discoloring at the edges of some characters.
Known issue or?

About pink specifically, I don't know. ...but, yes, there are quite big differences between c64 models when it comes to video output signal quality. Some prefer this, and some prefer that. The palette looks a bit different too, so...

About A/V connector it says:
"Note that early versions of the C64 have a 5 pin DIN connector while later versions have an 8 pin. The two are wired exactly the same, except that the 8 pin connector has a separated chroma (color) output on pin 6. Earlier C64's didn't have separated chroma."

C64C and C128DCR have a heavy composite filter which avoids chroma-luma interferences. If you don't want that filter, use s-video connection and not composite.
