tinySID player in flash
Made by Ralph Hauwert, c64 lover and flash guru. He's responsible for more fame like papervision3d and different things.
But look what he did in his spare time:

It's not perfect yet, but shows the potential.
And yes - it plays SID-files! |

Very cool! If nothing else it's at least a way too include high quality music in a flash game without wasting a lot of space. |

good going, even though the current version bugs like helvete (galway's tune missing a whole voice, dane's adsr- and filter-settings being severally messed up in some of the tunes =) - but if this is going to be a useable flash-based player, i'd sure be one of the first to spell revolution with a capital R.
too bad that due to my limited knowledge, all i can do is moan about this, other than supplying some constructive help. :) |

The above proof of concept is rather lame when it comes to actual SID playback: It seems to use an outdated, defective version of TinySID and is limited to the playback of legacy PSID files. But as the author says in his blog he did not really do any programming on this one..
If you are looking for a functional Flash based SID player this one here is a much better choice: http://www.wothke.ch/tinyrsid/
This player also plays RSID files and it can be invoked with any .sid file you want. |
