THE MOVERS Treasure Chest

Hi all ya guyz around here...

We've just started to open our Treasure Chest...

http://rapidshare.com/files/9304647/Hahni-Soft_of_WCS.ZIP.html

This first package are the transferred disks from Hahni Soft of WCS... WCS was just a local group. Jezi got later a member of Strike Force and Ruhrpott Cracker was also in the WCS (but actually we can't remember his handle at that time; we will add him then with his correct handle)...

Today we present a package of releases from Radwar Enterprises. This package was collected/transferred by MWS some years ago, but there's still stuff on it that haven't uploaded here yet...

Upload rules saying you have to sort them into categories and that's what we will not do... Cause if we do that we could also upload each release here and for that we don't have the time, so we will continue to fill this thread up and give out more and more of THE MOVERS Treasure Chest...

Hi there,

the problem is if you upload it to TDD nobody else can access the collection (i tried it).
If you use rapidshare everybody can dl them.
If anybody have them its may faster to extract the missing files and put it to the CSDB.....?!

may somebody can upload the package to a public place :-)

Thanks and regards

Xidex, I think you can't download from the incoming folders on TDD due to permissions, but as soon as CBA moves the package then it should be possible to download them from a public folder also...

anyway, great job Skylab!

Hi Skylab,

yes i think its a good idear to have this treat for "packages". So much more people can have access to it, look out and check old releases which are missing for a long time. This is much more efficient instead to do by your own alone.

Thanks also for your packages :-))

I'm waiting for my new account to be activated then I can move the files from the incoming dir, but furthermore gotta discuss with the other GP maintainers if we distribute cd images, it's supposed to be for single c64 software.

And here's another big package. A huge collection of demos/mags. It was collected by Hornet/Agony Design. So maybe you already have got that stuff, but a lot of you will have fun with it. We're quite sure...

Package size is 325MBytes and it is parted into 4 parts. So let's start with the download link for part1.

You forgot to have a version tag. Currently there are 9 different versions of the database out, and Breakpoint will propably see the 10th.

Remind this is not my work, but d0c who transferred those disks.

Bar: The reason people leave this database is because of people like you.

Anyway, thanks to Fungus, we've tracked down the old site by The Sharks called "Sharkbite". This website/archive was launched in the mid-ninties and closed after about three years. The storage site was located and the files were happily retrived. The result of which is a large 80MB package which can be obtained from here:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RICOZGPV

The package contains cracks, demos, photos and more.

For me it was because Bamu, Nafcom, others never left because of me or people like me.. But please post only Topic related.

Only write on-topic. Any off-topic text will be removed. This means that the forum is for discussions related to the room the topic is in, user comments are for comments, and not telling the world about possible wrong information, or other off-topic. Such information should be taken to the entry-discussion thread, which all entries have.

Elites leave because of non-elites, non-elites leave because of elites, isn't it how it goes :) (in addition to bannings, but they're rare here, so far)

80 MB package from the Sharkbite Site/archiv
which includes cracks, demos, others..

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RICOZGPV

First Link still works, too.

SKYLAB/THE MOVERS Treasure Chest

Hi all ya guyz around here...

We've just started to open our Treasure Chest...

http://rapidshare.com/files/9304647/Hahni-Soft_of_WCS.ZIP.html

This first package are the transferred disks from Hahni Soft of WCS... WCS was just a local group. Jezi got later a member of Strike Force and Ruhrpott Cracker was also in the WCS (but actually we can't remember his handle at that time; we will add him then with his correct handle)...

Hurry up! :)

Help to keep this nice idea alive..

Why reposting the links from the older posts?

I could see a reason if the link died and a new one were posted.

A bit off topic, but I can't resist, "As these topic was used for attacks by Jazzcat". Attacks? I see truthful statements made by David and nothing more.

Also, thanks to everyone posting the "packs". I've found quite a few nice disk images to sort through.

Also,

I also uploaded all 107 SCANNED editions of ZZAP!64, including their cover tapes.

Regarding the previous post with the SHARKBITE collection. I noticed wget didn't grab all the lynx files correctly, so I will upload a 100% version soon. Will post the new link here.

Would be nice if we had a C64 Scene Storage Site. A place to upload all these collections. I guess I have now around 16 DVDs of C64 collections and I still don't have everyone's collection.

yes i agree and now you know after seeing the dead links why
i posted old but working links. And i'm be sure no one would leave CSDB because of me or would you, Jazzcat ? ;)

But a ftp only wouldn't really help.. As you saw some ftp sites dying.. I think we must have more. Torrents, Emule, Rapidshare, FTP Sites and others, .. And we should do lists like who had what CD / DVD f.e.

No one lives forever...

So if something, someone died we know where we could get it back from.. We keep the stuff alive while spreading around..
Any other ideas ?

I belive that setting up a ftp server would be the fastest and best way to get peoples collections to a central point. I don't think that using torrents or emule would keep such kind of collections more alive. Throwing up the stuff to usenet could be an idea too, but things there would also only be available for a short time.
So at all i still think that ftp would be the best way, unluckily I'm not able to provide enough bandwith/traffic for it.

FTP is best. Setting up a reliable site that would last for years with around 100 GB of space would be nice.

Anyway, the 99% version of the Sharkbite collection can be leeched from http://www.scs-trc.net/Sharkbite_Online_Collection.zip (thanks to CBA for the space). This version has an extra 26MB or stuff that was errored in the original link provided earlier.

The Link for doc's stuff still works, so i add them here
again with his text about... :)

As promised here is the whola collection, it contain 401 d64 sides, some works 100% some with errors but its all here. 30mb winrared and 66mb unpacked....

This pack should include something for everyone, here you find stuff that is not yet added to the csdb. demos, tools, cracks, music, gfx, source code etc...

The new update is available for the Ultimate Mag Archive project. This time it will just be a single zip rather than individual downloads from the site itself. The reason for this is that the site is migrating to http://c64.com and I don't want to do too much re-work.

Grab the latest update from:

http://www.scs-trc.net/mags.c64.org_update_5.zip

..also don't forget the other parts to the collection:

Preserving/Copying the discs is like...not time consuming at all, I did some 900 discs during a rainy weekend + a pile of movies to keep me motivated.

Sorting the damn discs is whats taking time sadly...

I have sorted quite some things together with Mason - whats needed is a pack of d64, good motivation and that you split the pack in half and start sorting :)

Thanks! Really dislike giving Rapidshare any cash, but it's fun to max out my line with C64 downloads :)

About the sorting problem - maybe some database organized by the d64 MD5/SHA checksums could be an idea?

I'm planning and working on some kinda system like that. Throwing all transfered disks to a database with the possibility to upload new images. I have a php script which is capable of reading d64's directories which can be thrown to the database too. I'm also thinking about a kinda "Checkout" system, like images which "are being worked on" to prevent that several people check the same image.
It's just on hold due to lack of enough storage and traffic, so if anyone has an idea about cheap webspace.....

actually I have around 3 gigs of transfered images which haven't been uploaded anywhere yet + counting the files which had been posted at this thread which should be ~4 gigs. Thinking of future uploads I guess 20 gigs of webspace should be lowest limit.

I can't define cheap as I actually have no idea about hosting prices.

I made a searcher tool for PHP/MySQL in 2004 just after X04, and this is the result of the initial version which is a "beta" kind of version. A better version is under development in coop with WREG. I have no idea when the new version is ready so .. use this meanwhile.

Ehh wasnt there a standard created back in the 90s (cant remember if it was decided at a X-party)? It was like ReleaseName Options and Groupname(s) - e.g. Alien 3+8-RSI

I have seen several ways to do sorting. Worst is the way Tosec and rom-renamers does. Alot of useless junk and lettercodes which has nothing to do with the original international release standards. Many with the naming standards forgets that CCS2 mess up the filename if they are too long.

Î personally use following:

Name of the Game +1 Hi Docs Fx Pw Solution [Lamer Group]

Name of the Demo [Even Lamer Group]

Name of the Magazine #01 [And even Lamer Group]

Name of the Tool v1.3 [The Super Group]

for unpacked files

and

e.g.

Name_of_the_Game+1HiDocsFxPwSolution_LAMERGROUP

for packed files

check the stuff on Gangsta's Paradise for further details

Yeah and those rules were genial. Mostly its the same standards who lived on through the scene, except the +FX were added and people used +3 instead of ++.

well i share your enthusiasm for this old machine :-)

what i cannot understand is your stubbornness ( sorry if thats too harsh ;-) ) towards some misunderstood naming standards... whats the use of your ancient one anyway nowadays?

i mean its ok for the name of the crack but not for the filename inside a 'higher' os! :-) you should not care how anyone names those .d64 or .zips, that has little to do with dg-standards, those standards were for internal c64 use, and thats basically all there is about it! :-)

mason, what is ccs2?!
i hope you dont mean ccs64v2.0. you are willing to skip a genius naming sheme, just because some software is not able to handle it?! ;-)

Using weird letters for imports, fixes, hacks like smells bad of the Tosec Collection.

Sorry I do quality sorting and wont be put together with Tosec.

Besides that it wasnt me who decided the standard. I reckon Trazan told me that it was decided at some party.

i dont say the standard is bad.
its ok for the crack name but not useful nowadays to extend it to 'this standard also goes for .zip/.d64 files as well' :-)

besides, i want to inform you that i am not affiliated with tosec anymore, my collection is quality as well, i dont care about fast growing, its quality not quantity that counts ( i think we at least agree on this point :-)) )
and pls dont banish me just for using a variant of a naming scheme which originated at the emu/rom/whatever-scene :-)

using these weird letters is important for easy import to a real database! you will hopefully see what i mean in the future :-)

Exactly my point. It doesnt have anything to do with Tosec, but the naming looks exact like that it was Tosec.

For importing to a datbase Lexx/Yacc can handle that with my naming too.

Anyway its about packs not naming standards.

You pay for download at rapidshare? Why not use the free version?
I have a dynamic IP, so I just reconnect after each package I download (to get a new IP), and so I don't have to wait until next download is allowed... but why paying for it?? (c;

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! nearly HISTORICAL ANNOUNCEMENT !

Seems that THE MOVERS have a very special "christmas gift" for all you busy collectors ...

We have got hold of the ORIGINAL Disk Collection of one of the very very first crackers on the C64 !!!

Nearly not possible to TOP this one !

I am talking about approx. a 150 Disk Sides original material between 1982 and 1984 ...

The whole stuff is "100% PURE OLD SCHOOL CRACKING SCENE" ...

We will share this with you in the hope that some of you will check all versions in CSDB and
compare to the ones on the disks ...

please upload the missing things to make the CSDB a more complete database.

Please don't forget to check the "highscore tables" for cracking infos ...

We will ship the things in 2 packages ...

First package are "just" the Games ...

And later on the second package, the "Holy Grail" the Utility Disks !

So keep your eyes open and your mouth shut folks !

We are working hard to get more "ORIGINAL OLD SCHOOL SCENE STUFF" of the very first 12 Big Sceners on C64 ...

SIGNING OFF ...

GENERAL ZOFF and SKYLAB of THE MOVERS / ELITE

Is all the stuff from this thread going to be
hosted on one of the FTPs at some point?

I dont go near rapidshare & the torrent is at 8% after
10 days of working 24/7 (my ISP is probably limiting p2p...).

Meanwhile, all I can do is look at the file-list and
drool :)

Oh, and thanx to everyone here for all the hard work
transfering all the disks!

For me you dont need to put it on rapidshare, I have so much crap on my hds,cds and disks that I can "play" with it for my entire life and when I really am in need something it's no problem to get it from someone who d/l'ed all above.

Thank you!

I'm sad I don't have much to contribute with regarding my own disks - 1/3 of them are full of errors and most of the rest is either "ruined" due to my stupidity when I was younger, or identical with already-released stuff.

same here, the version which I had downloaded seems to be also broken...

but you can still extract files (at least the ones who work) by using the "keep broken files"-option when extracting with RAR, but I guess myself you already know that. (c;

the original cd of this collection contains a mirror of banana republic (elysium-ftp), an old mirror of the digital dungeon (scs+trc - ftp) and the disk-collection from hornet/agony. i have no idea why it's called Arise. the already uploaded version of this collection doesn't contain the mirror of tdd and also is missing some other stuff from the original-cd. i've got this cd and will upload it again, will take some time though.

Regarding ARISE.rar ... dont bother it.. as its mostly an old
compilation of the Banana republic FTP and some other
widely spread disks from Hornet.

So.. I've deleted the shit... everyone should do so also
to keep out compilations.

Regarding this pack:

C64 & C128 Stuff.7z of size 247.063 MB
http://www.filefactory.com/file/d1155a/

Also a compilation of other widely spread packs, absolutely
waste of time sorting this one!!!

Use my tool SearchDBC64 V0.92 and
use the compare-tool to see if a pack is already included and
which packs it possible came from... then decide to import or
delete it.

You're lucky.
I have it running for several weeks now, only last night
i've reached 45%...

Its probably due to ISP p2p policies, which i can do
nothing about :(

I don't see the point in setting up a TBdev tracker for c64 disk images... rather a FTP-server that is also indexed ( or searched through ) by PokeFinder...

a) your isp can not block p2p. use a different port, not the default ones. if its still limited, complain at your isp, you pay for their service.
b) ftp isnt really an alternaive, unless you find someone who is willing to pay for some massive traffic =P

Groepaz, they dont block p2p, they do traffic-shaping
which effectively lowers p2p traffic to a minimum.

All ISPs here do it except one, and that one is the
worst of them all in terms of bw, since its at 100%
capacity nearly all the time.

If you call to complain, they deny it saying they're not
responsible for p2p speeds.
Thats the main reason why i use Usenet exclusively for several years now (although they blocked port 119 several
times in the past year & only reopened it when i called to
complain..).

Sad but true.

FTP is best.

The scene needs a reliable FTP which has the space to support our collections.

The magazine archive at http://mags.c64.org is over 1GB alone, so plenty of space is required.

i wouldn't go less than 100gb for a start (i am already at over 40gb) and less than 100mbit, anything else would just be as annoying as rabbidshare. and i'd recommend private accounts to keep away emulatorromlamers :=P

I just finished downloading the torrent from PB and I'm seeding it on a box with quite large pipe. ;)

I'm also willing to give URL for anyone interested in downloading the files included in torrent through HTTP (eg. for people who's ISP is limiting P2P speeds). You can reach me from IRCnet (drafti) or just PM me here on CSDb.

I also made md5sum of files which you can check here: http://damaged.ihku.org/~draft/c64_disks_md5sums.txt

Ymgve: I'll help you to seed the new one also when it's finished.

Merry xmas to everyone!

i am sorry, i am not common with the term "craps out", so i dont exactly know what the problem is...?

its a multipart rar, put both rar files in the same place and unpac the first one, then you will get a file with the same neame but .7zip...

if that's not the problem, please describe what the problem is, thanks

@tmb
these free hosting sites do quit the downloading before its finished, if there is heavy usage on their connection(crap out). so you end up with a broken file, the only solution to this is to give it another try until you get the whole file..

@the movers
when are you gonna release this x-mas gift of yours?, there is so many other people releasing stuff in your thread, so its getting confusing....

Ho ho ho...

Nearly one year ago we opened this TREASURE CHEST. Meanwhile this thread became one of the most replied and viewed threads here. In addition to it many others filled this chest too. Thank you all for the good work and keep the real spirit alive.

We promised that we have got hold of the ORIGINAL Disk Collection of one of the very first crackers on the C64 !!!

So today we would like to offer you the first package. It is the original stuff from OTD of JEDI (also known as 2612 and Mr.O)!!!!!

In this package you'll find all of Olivers disks which are labeled GAMES...

Some words regarding the disks. The disks are 100% unmodified and were sent to us by Oliver, we converted the disks to D64 format. Oliver was and still is very orderly. Therefore you will find usually no work-files on the disks.

Also please do not forget:

We share this with you in the hope that some of you will check all versions in CSDB and compare to the ones on the disks ...

Please upload the missing things to make the CSDB a more complete database.

Please don't forget to check the high-score tables for cracking infos. Even have a look into memory.

We are working hard to get more "ORIGINAL OLD SCHOOL SCENE STUFF" of the very first big sceners on C64 ...

And here's the link to the package:

http://www.remixshare.com/download.php?file=2b3ca53ccd6918a5c30..

We wish you all a very thoughtful Christmastime and a very good new year.

After talking to wreg I've decided to ditch The Pirate Bay and use open trackers instead. This is the new torrent:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WIZZNYOO
http://rapidshare.com/files/79196646/c64_disks-opentrackers.tor..

Also, you can get a head start if you already have the files from the old torrent and copy them into the new download folder.

Hi guys...

We forget to mention that some disks sadly got read-errors. This disks are marked with an error-info block. Thereby the file-size is bigger than usual.

We will work on all this disks with several other drives to get them perfectly transferred...

as i am transfering VERY dirty disks at the moment i found following solution to clean disks:

70% ALCOHOLE !!!

that's how the disks look like:

side a

side b

and then they get cleaned:

side a - cleaned

works great! saves lots of old disks! (at least the content ;)

cheers...

i'd use "pure" alcohol, not 70% ... best is to ask for special "lense cleaning" alcohol, which contains no water nor anything else (but alcohol ofcourse).

what about dirt beeing only water- but not alcohol-soluble?
is there anything like this??
i guess this water/alcohol mixture is the better solution, or what is against this?

it will not dry completely (some water will remain on the surface) and cause oxidation.

i used 90% alcohole before and it destroyed the surfance of lots of disks, which became due to this unreadable, the 70% alcohole did not destroy anything til now... and also, i only want to read those disks once, if the stuff on them is needed, its always better to save it back to new disks...

boeder, digital, 3m and kodak/verbatim disks didnt like the 90% alc, but they have no problem with the 70%

thought boeder and digital disks are big crap. was a waste of money :(

(while maxell are really great and still work perfect)

the white stuff you see on the surface of the disk, is what eats them. if it have been on for a very long time it will leave dark spots on the disk when removed. these dark spots are dead spots and unreadable for the disk drive, but usually after a format the disk is fine again. the white stuff will grow on your disk if you store them in a moist places like cellar or lofts with big temperature changes.

Quote: Groepaz, they dont block p2p, they do traffic-shaping
which effectively lowers p2p traffic to a minimum.

Sad but true.

just a little fix that may help a bit. if you use uTorrent, there is an option to encrypt the data. this way, your ISP cannot see if it's a torrent file, or so I've heard.

Time for some new stuff.
Within the next weeks, I will upload one of the largest private collections I ever had in my hands. All disks belong to bugjam, who has borrowed his disks to me to make it possible giving all the stuff to the public. So, again a big thanks to you bugjam :)

Let's start with the 5 first boxes:

http://rapidshare.com/files/90450955/bugjam_Box001.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/90450957/bugjam_Box002.rar

http://rapidshare.com/files/90450959/bugjam_Box004.rar

Hi,

I got some 400 disks yesterday starting to transfer the whole bunch. I'll post the packages when I find time to transfer disks .

Here you can get the first package:

http://www.digital-facts.de/files/c64/C64_DiskImagesBox01_DMC.z..

I did not check the images nor the disks. Some of them got bad blocks but most of the disks were transfered without errors.

But see for yourself.

Is it possible to put these collections on a more user-friendly storage? I prefer sites where I don't have to wait... like ADrive or FileFactory

Top effort for the ADrive links.!

Regarding rabbitshare. StaticIP is a hassle and DynamicIP you can turn your modem off/on to reconnect under a new address and leech again. There is ways around it, but why should anyone have to make this effort.

Info should be free.

Ahoy!

as I said before, one of the biggest collection I ever saw in my life ;)

and yes, everything at all it were more than 100 diskboxes, and not the small ones. most were the boxes with space of 100 disks.

took me 2 times to bring all the disks to my home. My car was packed till under the roof with disk boxes, I'm glad I didn't had to break heavily on the highway :-)

Sometime ago we released the first package of the original OTD-Disks. And today we'll offer you the next little package of that original old-school stuff. This time it's the package with the Disks named Adventures.

So go ahead, fire up your WinVice or something like this, get the package right now and have fun...

Greetz!

PS. We're working hard on getting more real old-school stuff. If you have some disks anywhere not transferred yet, you should know what you have to do asap!

The ANZACS collection - a small collection of wares from the Australian and New Zealand scenes. Uploaded sometime ago, but the link died, this version includes also some update that is unsorted and not added into the main collection.

This is very doubtful. After XPB released it ESI had no reason to put out a version, also I dont think an ESI crack of that game would so rarely spread that noone has it.

I know you cant do that with the current thread, but it could be named THE MOVERS Treasure Chest Before August 2008

ive been downloading stuff for about 10 years or more :) theres probably alot of stuff that's duplicated but ive never had a really good chance to sift through it all and start sorting it out really..

trying to recover the 150gb now but theres a good chance that most of it will be corrupt in some sort of way :(

ill keep trying to recover my old drive as theres some stuff you just cant download anymore :(

im getting the other torrent at approx 60kb at the moment so its going to take me a weeek to get that but its a start

I could try helping with the recovery, though I guess you don't have a way of transfering the full disk image. I assume you've got "soft" corruption (file system errors, etc), or is it a dying drive?

not sure exactly what happened but when i went to go into the drive it was saying that it needed formatting for some reason...so i ran chkdsk and it fixed some problems but still didnt work properly

then i tried a few different programs which came up with cluster errors and some of my stuff using the same cluster

using a program now to get everything off the drive but ive noticed that every single zip is corrupt and will need fixing

ive looked in .d64's and they are all corrupt too :(

so im trying various other ways to atleast get some of the stuff back without losing everything but nothing has worked so far

what did you have in mind ymgve??? what software would you use???

I would first use linux to create a full image of the disk, then store the image somewhere safe.

Then I'd try using this program: http://www.pcinspector.de/Sites/file_recovery/info.htm?language..

and if not...I'd try to do some manual recovery by examining the data directly
