c64 components

Hi 8-bit gurus,

I didn't find the exactly correct area for posting this, but this is the closest one so here it goes:

A local school has a bunch of old c64 parts in their storage room. I'm gonna buy the SIDs from there, but since I'm going there, I must ask: What other parts might be worth buying/taking? I mean like processors etc... I guess they would only be useful for fixing broken 64's, but do people usually even try to fix broken C64's? Please tell me what might be useful or what you need and I'll check if they have it!

Thanks in advance!

I've had oportunities like these twice in the past 10 years
and each time I took everything I could fit into my car.

Once this stuff is gone there's no way to get it again so
dont think twice, take it all.

Hi,

I've forgotten to tell you that I went to the school to get the parts. They had a box filled with C64 chips. I got 9 6581R4's for free, and a couple of main CPU's. They didn't want to sell the whole bunch, but if I need something I can ask them.

The point of telling that I got the bunch of SIDs for free is not to brag but to give motivation for others who know of a possible source, like a school, for C64-stuff. Go get 'em! :)

Oh, and thanks for the information on the various parts.

I can't believe there are still schools on this planet that still have C64s in their storage rooms! Well, actually I'm not too surprised, as I only left school about 3 years ago and they still use BBC Micros for their physics classes :P

At my highschool we upgraded from Microbees (awesome machines) to Amiga 1000s as soon as they were released.

Those were the days. c64 at home, amiga 1000 at school.
