In what format should I upload releases?
When I upload a release to CSDb, what is the prefered format? If it's just a singlefile crack/demo it seems more logical to just upload the PRG, but then I have to rip apart spread disks.
But if I upload the whole D64, it's possible that there's other stuff on the disk too, so when you autostart the D64 you will get something else than expected.
What's the best way? |

Don't forget about Dir messages on Track 18, it's nothing special but sometimes funny messages, sometimes addresses or slogans, often used on Hotline, Cosmos spread disks e.g. |

yeah, like 'TALENTED RULERZ' which is a perfect indicator to better double check the files for errors... |

I doubt it. I downloaded a 5.5GB torrent of disk images that was linked from another thread.. and, afaik, that was only stuff <85... so yeah, think you're gonna need quite a byte more :_)

If you're talking about the torrent I posted, that one was definitely not only pre-85 stuff, but from all over the place. If you're talking about another torrent...give it to me! :) |

Quote: I usually take the crack of a spread disk, copy it into a blank .d64 file and then use a dir editor to transfer the directory design into the new .d64.
Indeed, that's probably the best way.
As for the format: I personally prefer uncompressed D64. Uncompressed, because most ppl have fast internet connection and plenty of HD space. If you download a lot of stuff, decompressing it all can get a bit annoying.
D64, because it's most easy to handle format, not only for emulators and transfering, but also for just showing - e.g. there are plenty of D64 viewers for Windows, but hardly any T64 viewer (if you know any standalone T64 viewers, be free to name them!). |

15GB on torrent?
oh my.. that will take forever..
i'll need to hook up a different system tomorrow to start on it since i simply don't have 15gb free on this laptop.
Do you have any objections if I upload it to usenet and post that if/when it completes for getting that spread more widely and faster? |
